He's quite a bizarre story actually. He started out in Churches as a hit and miss opening batsmen who rarely bowled but since shifting associations has concerntrated on his spin bowling and it has paid off hansomely.

Yes he did and to make it more sweet, it was against the other SA side which was considered the A Grade side ;). Carey, I still remember when your brother won that association medal at footy

  Gee thanks mate..

But I think it's important to put things into perspective a bit more..

I am not an outstanding cricketer, nor have I ever been. I was definately fortunate enough to have a good day out about 6 years ago when I hit that 100, but these days happen to everyone once every now and then, I was even more fortunate that it happened to be in such an important enviroment. However its no secret that with the exception of that innings, I really haven't done a great deal. I was always good for a start - a 20 or 30 and the odd 50 but have never been a game breaker or a prolific run scorer.

I dont think my story is bizarre by any means. I identified that if I wanted to play a better level of cricket - whether it be in churches or PDCA or where ever - that my batting was not nearly good enough nor would it ever be and I would have to concentrate on a discipline that I would have a better opportunity to progress my cricket with. Since I'm not an express bowler, but feel I have always been a handy spinner, and at the time good spinners seemed few and far between, I focussed my energy towards that.

It has definately proven to be the best choice.

Surely not ? Say it aint so....

LOL.. I have the opposition captain to thank for my 100..

Had some overnight drizzle, and come time for the coin toss there was some moisture in the deck and it was overcast and blowing a gale, the opposition captain won the toss and whether from arrogance or stupidity elected to bat - apparently wanted to post a massive score and then bowl us out cheaply as to get a nice % boost..

Anyway they limped to 200 off their overs thanks to some late hitting from Marc Cossens and the captain chimed in with some runs himself.

By the time lunch finished and I went out to open the batting, the sun had been out for probably a good 90 minutes, no breeze, nothing and the pitch had turned into a road.

To aid my batting the captain gave the only 2 bowlers who were troubling me - Gully & Jarrett only a few over each and instead kept on a spinner (coincidently from his own club) on for a lengthy spell with a defensive field, allowing me to just punch down the ground for singles.

Think we were 0/100 odd after about 34 overs.. by then - as any normal human would be - I was seeing it like a beachball and hitting them very cleanly.

That captain - none other than Rose Park's favorite son B. Reidy

Enough of your lip, Hot Gossiper Pie Chucker..

You're just a frustrated C Grader who wishes he was still a Churches player..

 Yes.. wish I was still playing in a comp where you only need to win 3 games in a year to play finals.. a comp where what 70% of your games are played before xmas and you have more weeks off during the season than you do playing!
Do you even have a C grade in your comp? :?
Isn't that a bit embarassing on your comps behalf then if a C grader can come out and play in your rep sides? ;)

Now.. back to smasha.. quit your sooking lol

now what seems to be your problem little phantom ?
was I sooking ? hmmmm, dont think so . if you idiots want to hide behind your user names and have a go,
well then you must feel very happy with yourselves....grow some balls and if you want to tell me anything I am always willing to listen.
I say what I feel and play with passion. little boys on the forum that hide and post should maybe think before you type.

I agree with your sentiments smasha people should not hide behind usernames. Dont worry about phantom he is only a hack who is lucky his wrists are double jointed or the ball would not spin. Tried to have him tested for legality of his action when murali got his done but they changed the rules for phantom and that seemed to help murali 8)

Good luck to all teams in finals. Should be some great games.

Something that came up Saturday, what is the follow on? Is it 75 or 99 runs behind first innings total?
