Before the kick off, Barton of Man City laid flowers in front of the Liverpool fans as a mark of respect.

I dont 1985 was an less tragic the 1989, I believe both mark the darkest days in football. I mean for starters 1985 european cup final ( now know as the champion league) never should of been played at the poor excuse for a staduim, and for 1989 it was a prime example about why permitira fences should not be aloud to be at football games.

Man, the stuff on Hillsborough never gets any easier to watch ... Can't begin to imagine what it would be like to have a loved one not return from a sporting match of all things!!

I've also seen on You Tube the footage of the stadium that caught fire in Bradford (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradford_City_disaster). It seems its been taken down now. 56 people died and it was amazing how quickly the stand caught fire. The game was in progress and the commentator went from doing his normal duties to commentating on the disaster as it was unfolding.

Yes, I have as part of a fire engineering subject a uni truly amazing stuff. IIRC that was during the last game of the season when Bradford won promotion back into the old first divsion for the first time in years. Very good work by the authorites (ie the local council) there, old timber stand with rubbish collected underneath. one Ciggie butt later and some locked gates, 56 people didnt return home from a football match. Truth be told no one should have been allowed to set foot in that stand until the rubbish was removed

The ironic thing was, they were due to knock down the stand and replace it at the end of the season anyway. Tragic.

I also saw it when i did Fire Warden training at work, pretty amazing and it shows you how quick fire can spread.
