02:15 PM CBCOC v Eastern Park Proposed Kellett Reserve,
02:15 PM St Peter's OC v Prince Alfred OC Proposed Caterer Oval,
02:15 PM Athelstone v Flinders Park Proposed Torrens Valley Oval, 3
02:15 PM Old Ignatians v SMOSH West Lakes Proposed Hunter Park (railways) West Tc, 39
02:15 PM Walkerville v Salisbury West Proposed Walkerville Recreation Ground, 71

My tips...
CBCOC, SPOC, Athelstone, SMOSH West Lakes, Walkerville

Anybody else game to have a go?

Athelstone got up by a few points with notable absentees - J Brown (refer below) T Barrett (playing B's for fitness)

J Nietsch(however the F*** you say it)owski very quiet apparently.

J Brown didn't front for Athlestone, and rumors he's gone back to Uraidla seem to be true. Apparently not happy with Athlestone, but won't be able to play for Uri either due to signing with Ath's and them refusing to clear him back.

Could be sitting the year out by all accounts.

You are exactly right - Joel Brown has left athelstone & wants to head back to uraidla. Apparently joel never even gave the club a chance to make him feel welcome & just decided he wanted to go back. I think he should sit the year out, Its a shame cause he would have loved playing for athelstone & if you ask anyone that saw the raggies vs flinders park game on saturday, joel would have loved the delivery into the forward line. the club's smallest bloke clayton wheenan kicked 5 goals upto half time, imagine what joel would have done... I wish him all the best with what he decide's but would love to see him in the blue & white raggies guernsey this year....

Mate that's is crap, I'm sorry but holding any player out for a season for no good reason is total shit! The Raggies are not owed any services nor money by this Brown fella so why the hell should they keep him and not clear him?!
Further more I'd say that Malcolm 'Grozzy' Grossman is the smallest and most talented player at the Raggies by far.
I sincerely hope Barabos the bafoon and the Raggie faithful shouldnt get to far ahead of themselves, you only beat Flinders Park for god sake and its round one! Raggies could go undefeated in 07 and still fold up like deck chairs coe September.

The issue with Brown is that he signed a contract with Athelstone. Not sure whether he received a sign on fee, but the club has every right to withhold a clearance on the basis of him signing the contract.

It is a shame to see a player sit out the season though, and I agree that with good delivery, J Brown is a potential 100 goal forward. (Which is a big wrap coming from a Mt Lofty man)

And Barrett is the ruckman from Mt Barker. Massive unit. and Josh alphabet (  love that one!) is a gun when fit.

Sorry DA, I don't agree with the character of the club. If he signed a contract, things wnet bad etc and he got a sign on then Ur's could cover the sign on surely and end of story. Not like he is going to play against the Raggies.
In theory, Raggies have every right, in footy terms they need to let him go and play which is a different story should he have played a game or had some genuine ties to the club.

I totally agree with you FM. Yes, in the contract they can make him sit the year out, but he's going to a different league, back to the club he came from, so they should get over it and let him return to the Cabbage.

How does Luke Porplycia go at Athelstone?

***NEWSFLASH****

To put this debarcle to rest for good, I can announce that Joel Brown was cleared back to Uraidla on Wednesday, it was all on the quiet too apparantly, the coach (Todd) didnt even find out till Friday. So Joel Brown will play footy this week, but in a red and blue jumper, not a blue and white one.

This should now end any more discussion on the topic....PLAY ON...
Don't play games with a girl who can play 'em better...

Thankyou for your clarity, good to know some of the Raggie faithful have a footy heart.

Good get FC.

Could you do me a favour and post that on the Hills thread? If I put it up, I'll be shot down in flames. Cheers!

FM, Todd Barabus was hailed as a genius at Cabbage land, but I agree with you - he's a pea brain!

Self proclaimed I'd expect DA? He's a wanker, deadset, talks a great deal of wah wah and has quite a few at the Raggies unhappy with him.
To top it off he's never actually played in a senior game of football having retired at the ripe ol age of 17 and becoming a club runner with Norwood Im lead to believe. I could be corrected here though?

Had heard he's never played senior footy.

While at Uraidla, he had a good list with plenty of Norwood add ons, but didn't win a flag.

I guess I just don't rate him because he's an ex-cabbage.

WTF? Get it right would ya, I dont have anything to do with the SAAFL ya bafoon!
If I had the ability to whack on a jumper again it certainly wouldnt be back in the SAAFL, actually I never had any ability, its actually more an age thing, you see if I was playing the Raggies would still be wearing heshan bags with white painted V's on the front - you work out that one sunshine, might have to look into your own clubs history to have an idea what Im talking about.

Anyway gents, how are we all thinking the SWFC will fair in 2007? They had a loss on the weekend but are Walkerville a finals chance even?

He also turned down a couple of other good footballers and almost lost his best player in Grossman, so I wouldn't say he's the sharpest tool in the shed!

would be interseted to know if the dollars on his contract, are the same figures as the club gives the the saafl.
Could be another south adelaide fc story, with numbers not adding up.
If winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?

Does anyone no if luke porplycia is back playing at SMOSH or if he is going away again. Was a huge loss last year to the lions.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.
