Might end up with another league yet, top 4 & bottom 4 relegation would be my vote, reward those that got in first to have the extra chance in Div 1.
Maybe re-investigate if we do get 3 div's, then I'd be more inclined to put all of the higher placed finishers together considering it's in it's inaugural year.
We'll have to develop a "rules committee". :D :D

Have finally settled on a team, barring massive injury problems throughout the remainder of the NAB:

DEFENDERS:
Goddard (StK), Reid (Coll), Morris (WB), Smith (Syd), Schoenmakers (Hawth), Lovett-Murray (Ess), Surjan (PtA), with Bower (Carl) and Bews (Geel) on the pine.

MIDFIELDERS:
Swan (Coll), Murphy (Carl), Selwood (Geel), Fyfe (Freo), McGlynn (Syd), Dangerfield (Adel), with McDonald and Reid (both GWS) on the pine.

RUCKS:
Wood (Coll), Giles (GWS) with Stephenson (Geel) and Rowe (Carl) on the pine.

FORWARDS:
Sidebottom (Coll), Hale (Hawth), Johnson (Freo), Howe (Melb), Hawkins (Geel), Walker (Adel), Thomas (Nth) with Folau (GWS) and Pfeiffer (PtA) on the pine.

Feel free to pick it apart.

Tip I learned from spudding up last year: Try to avoid, where possible, having too many players from the one team in the same zone.
(The most I have from any one team is Collingwood, GWS, and Geelong, and that number is only 4 from each team, and the only zone with more than one is GWS in the guts, and they are both benchies that I expect to upgrade).

Hi MP I think Reid from Collingwood will not be starting the season from round 1 after his injury last year. Also you will need to watch to see if Pfeiffer is upgraded from the rookie list before round 1.
The only other comment is I think you probably need a couple more rookies that can become cash cows to allow you to upgrade some of your mid price players mid season to guns.

OK just throwing some questions out there, please repsond where you can so we can get it up and running fairly and efficiently, let us know if you are able to assist in any way.
Naturally the Hogg Shield is a well-oiled machine and a well worth stealing hints off so it gives us something to strive for.

1: Do we want to base our divisions on how teams performed last season or go first in first served? 1st in 1st served I'm fine with, happy to go the other way though.
2: For next season do we base promotion/ relegation on final positioning or overall points ranking? final positioning for mine
3: Do you have a possible name for the competition? Not off the top of my head.
4: How many teams should get promoted/ relegated? Top and bottom 4

My opinion:

1. probably first in first served for this time (i mean people are already in the leagues)
2. i would say final positioning... a point of difference from the Hogg
3. Does it need a special name, I'm drawing a blank
4. Either top and bottom four, or top 8/bottom 8, dependent on how many leagues we get running

LM I agree with what you have said. A Mum started this a few seasons ago so it may be useful to get her feedback on what worked and what didn’t. Perhaps we could call it SA Footy DTE (Dream Team Experts)?
