That is what would have happened had the vote gone the other way? If we had the regular 21 we would then lose 8 players. Why does there need to be promotion/relegation from this grade anyway?

wasnt this the point of the whole proposal thing???

No, promotion and relegation - as I understand it - is from c4-c1. Division 8 is for those four sided clubs whose c grades would be no match for division 7 a grade teams but so they can minimise volunteers required by clubs with their c and d grades playing together.

From what i was told coming out of the meeting, there is promotion and relegation in this grade. Same from Div 1 to Div 8. I think there has to be as you wouldn't want some clubs forming a very good C grade at the expense of there B grade now would you? Not saying some clubs do this!

Some clubs might want to go up to div 7 and some bottom div 7 teams might prefer going down to div 8 to finally find some happy times ie- crabs. Just give em the choice as shocs got

Meanwhile who are the teams set to play in div 8 this year?

Exactly...Ridiculous decision by those who voted this rule in for this Div!

Well they way it was they were going to keep coming up with motions until they got what they wanted.
How you can let just the Div 8 clubs vote on it is beyond me.
This excuse they used about it giving 4 extra guys a game each week per club is crap. What happens if u finish top and have to go up, do u then tell those 4 guys they cant play anymore because you can only have 21 in Div 7?
Was a farce and certain people were going to carry on until they got what they wanted

Actually, to be completely truthful hotpies, why dont you tell them the correct story.
The clubs were asked whether all clubs should vote or just the D8 clubs.
The clubs decided that all clubs should vote but it was subsequently a 25-25 draw.
Usually that would vote a motion down, but this was not a yes / no motion - it was a question for the clubs as part of the Rules & Regs review and a decision had to be made. It was a "do you want 21 or 25 players" question.
Because it was tied with all clubs voting, the clubs decided to leave it to a vote of those playing in D8 this year, because the League needed an answer and it only affected those clubs.
6 clubs voted for the extended bench, 1 against and 1 abstained. If the PAOC delegate had been there, he would have voted for 25 players
There is nothing stopping another vote next year as it is just a change to the Rules & Regs.
The League didn't give a toss if was 21 or 25 players - it makes no difference to them

Funny how a little bit of democracy pi$$es some people off. FFS, in past years, the clubs would have been told what it was and have no say in it.
What confuses me most is Rosewater aren't even in D8 so why does it matter so much to you?

The 10.15am games for your C grade might have hurt too if you didn't get a D grade up and running...

Only had nine.

Flinders Park, Modbury, Uni, TTG, SHOC and Henley are the only other clubs with a D Grade and they're already in Div 6 or 7.

we (uni) thought about going in with our 5th and 6th sides but decided to hold fire this year to see if there were other clubs interested. wouldn't surprise me if down the track, uni end up there.

It bothered me last year because you were the only Div 5 club with a C grade who wouldn't have triple headers, but you guys explained that a lot of your blokes worked in the morning. If you had a similar team this year and were in the C grade comp again I thought it might have made it tough to get a team up and running at 10.15am. I was merely stating a fact.

And thanks for your concern, but I did plenty of venting after our last game last year. About 4 days worth... :drinkers:

Going to be a tough comp some good sided in there! Really looking forward for games to start! A great mate of mine is out at Broadview and we have not played against each other since div1 res Broadview v Kilburn days about 11 years back. The trash talk has not changed and has been laid on thick already!

Had some great games against PAC in C4 a few years back too, one less great one too :(

Is it still top 5 for a 9 team comp which has 9 teams at the start of the season?

Looking at that list and going by 2011 form, it wouldnt be crazy to suggest potentially swapping Flinders Uni and Flinders Park in D7/D8 for the 2013 season if they both continue their current form.

having seen 1st hand some of the Motley crew that get garnered up to play in Haven's C grade, i can only imagine the calibre of player in the D grade bench ;)

I cant see them gettin the numbers but best of luck to them if they do.
