not a good day with the bat from us but thats cricket, we normally do that in the first final.
so hopefully we have put that curse to rest and play to our full potential in the prelim.
back to MR MARSHALL........SECOND BALL DUCK , caught and bowled by a diving (haha) baldo......
revenge is sweet sometimes.
now they need 31 to win and we need 4 wickets for less than that ........will be a good finish whoever wins.
really bad shots played by both teams .

Y would you sledge when you have to play the same guys in a knock out final next game?

Smasha did you let Mr Marshall know that that would be his second duck in a row? I cant remember if he lasted 2 or 3 balls last game.

I guess he didn't have to let everyone know who he was?

Sounds like it is going to be a really tight finish. Quick question, how much emotion and weight do you take out of the game when you know you are backing up again the following week?
Would you rather a real close finish that might drain you emotionally or would you want to smash the other team leading into a final?
Me i think i would rather a tight game!

Oh come on mate, they're not going for an olympic gold, you take notes and pay more attention to weaknesses and try expoliting them the following week, surely there's no such thing as emotional drainage at this level.
Beer always tastes sweeter after a win but you're over a loss by Monday and start focussing on the task ahead.

The focus is obviosly not really on this game neither team can gain much of an advantage. The thing i have been
mulling over is what to do after we score the runs or you guys bowl us out. Either way it should be done
in an hour but then what? Not much to gain by playing on but we gotta pay Bob his $100 anyway so maybe we should play on....Guess the SA one day final is on though

As much as i love the local pub ( whichever one it might be ) dont really like the idea of paying $100 for
1 hour of umpiring

Surely the standard of umpiring we receive is well worth $100 bucks a hour!

the way I see it mate is, I dont care what happens as I am sure you would agree , it is the next game that counts....
if over in an hour, call it quits and either go to the real cricket   or just drink a few bevvies before our gentlemens night.
or we can have a t20 game for beers........you win you drink , we win we drink, as long as we all drink who cares.
if anyone is too young to drink then they can watch us drink
honestly oxy , do we want to play on ....? for what , home final, not fussed where we play mate. we would even like to watch our b grade finish the season with a win , since they made 265.......
adel luth, said we stacked the b grade with a grade players bahahahahha.....our a grade cant bat at the moment so our b grade dont want us hahahahahaha...

Mate i think Adel Luth rested a few players this game or played some B graders in the A grade.

I like your thinking Smasha, finish first innings then lets get on the suds.

c&b, or bowled....no one else has to catch it  said it kept climbing on him, only a young fella.
when trying to defend 109 you cant afford mistakes . but all good now, will be interesting for the first 30 mins in our game .

not a good day with the bat from us but thats cricket, we normally do that in the first final.
so hopefully we have put that curse to rest and play to our full potential in the prelim.
back to MR MARSHALL........SECOND BALL DUCK , caught and bowled by a diving (haha) baldo......
revenge is sweet sometimes.
now they need 31 to win and we need 4 wickets for less than that ........will be a good finish whoever wins.
really bad shots played by both teams .

in defence of the hair machine model Richard Marshall, yes it may seem like he got a bit of pie in his face on the weekend.
However I think scoring 120 odd in a grand final against your mob on its own qualifies the bloke to be able to say what he wants, let alone the fact he backed up the year after with 60 odd in the grand final against roys. Fair to say he's got the runs on the board to compared to the blokes he was dishin it out to. As I wasn't there, can you confirm that the bloke he was giving stick to was Gatt? From what I've been told by guys that played smasha the feeling from both teams is that it felt like both teams didn't really care, that the game was just a formality to the first final so like you said blokes didn't value there wicket when batting, care to weigh in on that one....
caatch.

I saw a few hours of that game (can't rely on my contacts & my own knowledge of the talent with the Association, afterall.. ;) ), and it's fair to say that both teams looked like they were playing a T20 match, and not a 2 dayer. 'There for a good time, not a long time' seemed to be the motto, with both teams on a mission to see who's batting line-up could self-destruct the quickest. The biggest plus for PV was the ominous return of The Hulk. Looked solid and the most composed & in control of all the batsmen across both sides during his stay at the crease. But the common theme from both camps is that they were looking towards the first week of Finals and not placing a great deal of significance on this round's result. Probably wouldn't have been my philosophy or approach, but I'm just old & cynical... :P

It's a shame that outright points are no longer 12 for a win, as Fitzroy are a good chance of chalking up an outright against Seaton at home, which would've made an interesting sub-plot to the last round, particularly if Adel Luth fall in a heap against the rampant Rose Lakes at Casa Da Postage Stamp this week. But alas, it's just a lousy 6 for the win, regardless of outright or not. Although Harry & his boys are half a chance of sneaking into 4th spot if they bat on and make an additional 500 AND nab the outright AND Adel Luth fold for about 50........ Fire up Auto!!!!

So this comp gives no extra points for an outright? That's strange....

Is it true a team in your comp won the toss on the weekend and bowled? Is that captain still alive?

Did this Marshall guy involved in the sledging play District cricket at any level?
