The Maloney appointment seems a little naroow minded from the outside looking in, grasping at straws to bring the successful era of the early 00's back again with people from that era, good club men who would come cheap.

Port tried it with Ginever, it is an easy path to take, but is it the best one? Time will tell.

Thought the whole idea of an AGM is to present a report on the club and surely finance is the number 1 issue. How can you vote for someone without knowing the performance ?

I'm not sure if the constitution has anything to say on it... I used to have a copy a few years back.

I'd expect it just says that at the AGM it should be tabled, but if it isn't available, it's released as soon as is practical thereafter. I'd be disappointed if it wasn't tabled, simply because, as stated earlier, we agreed as members to move it to February to avoid this happening, as it did a few times when we were holding the AGM in December.

As for voting, in recent years, people have been appointed unopposed. I haven't voted for a board member in my time and I've been a paid up member for 20 years.

CS, after previous dealings with you I really don't want to become involved with your idiosyncrasies however, without going into specific details, the club did go through a process of due diligence in seeking a replacement for Normo, and other people were looked at for the job. The club chose to appoint Seamus. Read into it what you want. Every individual, company or club has the right to not publicize every minor detail of their dealings be it for their own privacy or for that of others. Doesn't mean that there's a conspiracy or bastardry going on.
Can't help but think that you feel embittered concerning the club.

I never asked for the details of how the appointment was made. Find a post where I did? I was curious as to whether anyone asked the club what actually happened. One minute Norman was coach, next minute Seamus was, nothing more was said. If they looked about and he was the best, I'm more than happy to take the clubs word for it.

As for feeling embittered? Embittered about what?

I think you read too much into things. This is my 20th season as a full paid member. I worked for the club for FREE for a few years, raising thousands of dollars in funds for the club while we were in our spoon run in the 1990s. While I lived overseas, I kept my membership going, despite never being able to go to a game. I flew from my home in London to Adelaide in 2002 to see the Preliminary Final and Grand Final, was interviewed by the Advertiser and was proud to be a Sturt supporter and always have been. I'm about to donate a bunch of memorabilia to the club, because I'd like to help them setup a good history museum for all supporters to enjoy. I go to the game with a group of people aged 10 years to 50 years plus, men, women, girls, boys, we laugh all day, joke all day, take the piss out of each other all day, its a great day out.

That said, I'm an exec and I expect the club to be run professionally, that means I ask the odd question, I'm not a "yes sir, three bags full sir" supporter. In my 20+ years of being a supporter, volunteer, whatever of the club, I think I've only really questioned what the club has done a couple of times, in my mind, that's pretty good for such a long period of time.

So embittered? I think not.
