Maybe it's also a way for them to fill their salary cap, not sure, I'm confused

$1.28 for the spoon. Get on it, best investment for 2012.

GWS Team as listed by Kevin Sheedy as the potential round 1 side.

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/opinion-why-gws-may-be-the-worst-team-ever-to-play-vflafl/story-e6freck3-1226267678122

AS promising and plentiful as their kids are, Greater Western Sydney looks the least capable team to have entered the AFL/VFL competition.

Even University, a club that won two games in four years between 1911-1914 before exiting the VFL, was competitive enough to win eight matches in its debut season of 1908.

Yes, different times and different circumstances but the fear is Greater Western Sydney will produce a percentage of less than the record low 45.4 per cent recorded by St Kilda in 1955.

The difference may be that the Saints actually won a game in that year, whereas TAB Sportsbet has put up $2 about GWS winning any game during 2012.

That came after Kevin Sheedy's predicted Round 1 line-up was published in the Herald Sun today, a side that included 11 teenagers yet to play a senior AFL game.

The Gold Coast had the same number in its first game against Carlton last year - a game it lost by 119 points.

GWS plays Sydney in a local derby in Rd 1 on March 24 at ANZ Stadium on a Saturday night. Right now the betting has the Swans at $1.04 and the Giants at a prohibitive $15.

By way of comparison the Sydney team could look something like this:

FB: Nick Smith, Ted Richards, Alex Johnson

HB: Rhyce Shaw, Heath Grundy, Martin Mattner

C: Kieren Jack, Jude Bolton, Josh Kennedy

HF: Gary Rohan, Sam Reid, Ryan O'Keefe

FF: Ben McGlynn, Adam Goodes, Lewis Jetta

R: Shane Mumford, Daniel Hannebery, Jarrad McVeigh

Int: Craig Bird, Luke Parker, Lewis Roberts-Thomson, Nick Malceski

As you can see, there is a gap. A very large one. Down the track there may well be an Adam Goodes, Shane Mumford or Ryan OKeefe in the GWS line-up, but we are talking well down the track.

GWS's experienced players are seriously old. Dean Brogan, 33, Chad Cornes, 32, James McDonald, 33, and Luke Power, 32, must think their recruitment is the best superannuation lurk in the business.

All were done and dusted with their previous clubs, and while they will bring plenty in terms of character and experienced bodies they will also most likely suffer the injuries associated with old age by AFL standards.

The Gold Coast Suns targeted ready-made players in their 20s and got plenty of games out of Jarred Brennan, Jarrod Harbrow, Danny Stanley, Nathan Bock, Michael Rischitelli, Gary Ablett and Josh Fraser.

So will they win a match? Not for mine, although they do host Port Adelaide on August 4.

Here are my thoughts on some of the key players:

Tim Mohr (full-back): Won the B&F with Casey last year but it doesn't matter how good he is, if he's playing on Adam Goodes, good luck.

Chad Cornes (back pocket): Looked completely shot last year and it's hard to see him being any better this year.

Luke Power (half-back flank): They'll probably use him as a defensive midfielder. Will be serviceable.

Phil Davis (centre half-back): Really good player. Will become a star.

Rhys Palmer (wing): Not a big fan, disposal really lets him down.

Callan Ward (centre): Good, tough player who knows how to win the ball. A natural leader.

Jeremy Cameron (centre half-forward): Really good reports on him, one of the favourites for the Rising Star. But name the last first-year player to have an impact as a key foraward?

Setanta O'hAilpin (forward pocket): Love his enthusiasm, unlucky to be cut by Carlton. But is he a 60-goal forward? No.

Israel Folau (full-forward): I'm as excited to watch him as I am about any player in the competition. Howevert I don't expect miracles. If he kicks 30 goals he'll be doing well.

Devon Smith (forward pocket): Really exciting young player.

Dean Brogan (ruck): Will be competitive, will give an honest contest. Love his aggression.

James McDonald (ruck rover): Outstanding person who should have played at Melbourne last year, but he hasn't played for 12 months.

Tom Scully (rover): Must emerge this year. We need to see what we've been told he's capable of.

Kevin Sheedy (coach): Great to have him back. Footy needs mad men.

I would agree witht statement, and considering the year that Port had rightly so. But in saying that it is still going to be hard yakka for the GWS. They dont have a Gabblet to win a game or 2 of his won boot so it will be tough but I believe they will get a win up at least.
