Eagles New Major Sponsor

Postby wedgetail » Wed Feb 08, 2012 9:21 pm

As mentioned at the AGM last night, there will be an announcement on either Thursday's Channel 7 News or Today Tonight re a SIGNIFICANT new major sponsor for the Eagles. An article will also appear in the Advertiser on Friday.
Also announced were life memberships to Col Davidson (Board and various committees) and Mike Whinnen (Head Trainer)- congratulations to both and also to Leigh Treeby who was inducted into the 'Stairway of Champions'.
$800,000 renovations to the clubrooms will also begin in the next 2 weeks.

My brother saw some Eagles players and staff at the Womens and Childrens Hospital today with the Channel 7 cameras. If what he heard is correct I congratulate them on what they've done.

The Club has a grant from the Council of $100K from memory and the rest is being borrowed by the Club.

Reckon Joe Pedler, being a west coaster, was instrumental in setting this up in conjunction with the McDonalds House when he was playing, so it's something the Eagles have been involved in for a number of years.

Yes that is correct, they go in groups of about 5 every 5-6 weeks during the season and have a bbq for the kids and their families, from all reports everyone has a good time.

cool. the reason I ask is We cop flak for having the government (The LMC) sponsor Us but Prospect Oval & your oval upgrades are funded by the government anyway, I am all for it but I wish that people would see that we're ALL receiving funds from the government.

I know. It's a bit contradictory really. If we receive money from the government, it's a 'grant'. If Centrals get given some money, people call it 'welfare'.

Doesn't the $1.7 million the NAFC paid as part of the Prospect Oval upgrade count then?

Great stuff by the club.

Not wanting to be pedantic but I think it's more a partnership than a sponsorship, I guess more info will be in the article in the paper tomorrow.

The correct terminology is definitely "Major Partnership" as also worded on wwtfc.com.au

Great story on the news tonight, I can see this partnership being very beneficial for the Eagles and Little Heroes
