Agree with this, S.A. is the only place I have heard laygo. Everyone else pronounces it leg o. As a kid, it was always leg o. But then again, I need a nearing 50 thread.....

I've been berated multiple times for saying "lay-go" on this side of the border.

I got so sick of it, I looked it up to discover that it is in fact, Leg-o as the Danes pronounce it.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Lay-go v Leg-o.

Half the world says Lay-go, the other half says Leg-o.

Tried to get to the bottom of this one quiet drunken night at uni.

Amazingly, no agreement could be reached so we emailed Lego head office in Denmark.

They confirmed it was Lay-go.

Leg-o mob were sore losers...

When I first met them they were "Nessles" and "Leggo" but that was Anglicisation of the name.
"Nestlay: and "Laygo" are probably correct in the country and language of origin.

Similarly, Hyundai is, I think, most correctly "High-oon-DIE" but Aussies (and Aussie advertising men) cope with "Hee-UN-day" better.
