Keep Travis in the side but get rid of Williams, There is a reason for him playing B grade Cricket 2 weeks ago. He isn't anywhere near close enough to be First Class standard

Totally agree, if Head has been identified as the best young batsmen in the state then persist with and give him the rest of the season to get comfortable at shield level.

As for Cam Williams he will be playing C Grade district cricket before the season is out, there has to be a spin bowler in district cricket under the age of 23 that has done something more than him at A Grade level.

Dan Cullen has hit some form of late hasn't he? Is there any chance he will be the next spinner again?

On a positive note.... at least we made it to day four.
Stupid runout in the first innings stopped what was a positive opening partnership too

We were crushed by the Vic's B grade.
Hopefully we can beat them in the Ryobi and at least make the final of that comp

Jim, depsite being top or wherever we are, we're more than likely to take this form into the ODD. I would suggest that SA should be at least 2.30 in a two horse race.

Sure has. In early January his figures for the weekend (including both the A Grade game and the One Dayer) were 6/18 from 13 overs. On Saturday he took 3/5 from 11 overs. His last 7.5 overs saw him take 3/0. He did not get scored from in the last 47 balls he bowled.

He also made a match-winning 38 with the bat this week and a very important 20 odd last game.

Sadly for DC he bowls off spin. Someone at SACA loves leg spinners for some reason at the moment. But why pick a leg spinner when he can barely get one to land on the deck

Leave the grade set up as is but introduce a new league, with six new teams where the saca hand picks the best 100 players or so and allocates them to redbacks reserves league. That way no grade club will be tossed away with, however the old A grade set up will be weaker and more of a b grade. I think 6 teams is ideal, look at the state set up? Six teams... And our country team has been bad ass for a long time.

This isnt happening next year or probably the year after (SACA have released a memo, more information/planning is being done/needed). So people need to stop harping on about it and the most stupid comments re 'relegation', turn it up!

It would be interesting to see the stats for the other states debutants in the past few years, compared to ours!

I have come to the conclusion that the current top level Cricketers in SA are simply not at a First Class Standard.

This is the Generation that the lure of the AFL has taken its full hold with instant fame and fortune at 18 years old. Life as a professional cricket player at that age simply doesn't reel in the dollars like a footballer does.

We just have to ride it out and hope that the next crop isn't stuffed up.....

Crickey, that's the understatement of all time.

We've been rubbish for 15 years.

Well the writing has been on the wall for years. How many dud underage teams were sent to the national carnivals? How many of those players are still playing cricket for Grade clubs?

What do you mean by this Heater? Are you saying that the 'dud' players are only playing Grade cricket and not state cricket or not playing cricket at all?

You will find only 2-3max from each U/19 carnival will end up playing for their state, the next year the same and the same after that. Hey Tom Cooper and Henriques(sp) smashed the U/19 comp to all parts and played AUS U/19s. Tom had to move states to get a go.

I can name 3 state under age reps at various levels from my club not even playing cricket at grade level if at all.

Admittedly one of these had injury problems.

Thats probably right, you look at clubs junior to senior set ups and the same thing happens (good cricketers leave). It part of the set up of cricket IMO. Only 11 can make it at a time, plenty of peoples priorities change once they reaslise they arent in the top section of players.

Blizzard hasn't gone back andade runs at grade level. Richo is injured at the moment and is still learning his craft in the shorter format. Remember he is still very young and will play a big part in first class cricket in years to come.
The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

Richardson played as a batsman only last game for ET. Not sure if he bowled on the weekend for the current round in progress.
