I bet (no make that guarantee) they won't be playing at Athelstone for free - I thought they had a few $$$ problems out there

and the last player with any talent that walked into a footy club to play for "free" was? Not sure what the point is - I would think most clubs, metro & country, struggle to make ends meet. I believe all the Riverland players are coming to Adelaide to go to Uni, not chasing money to play footy - either way I would love 5 players with A grade ability to walk into my club (instead of walking out like they have this year!!)

The point was they would all be after $200 a game at least (despite the we are not chasing money I'm only here for uni talk I am yet to meet an "A Grade quality" recruit who doesn't want at least this) - . I haven't even mentioned the player points yet - 5 x A Grade players = 15 points - wouldn't they have players with carry over points from last year also?

I am sure Athelstone is fully aware of Appendix 4 as all SAAFL clubs are, it was in operation last year so nothing new this year.

Many thanks to whoever edited/deleted half of my post - apparently we can't mention the financial position of a club despite it being relevant to the discussion

A bloke floats around having a look at the cricket last Saturday, as an independent observer and goes to see Sturt and West Torrens A Grade, at Mitcham. Does not sound great for the Hawks from what was said. Ouch. The great man Brett "Guns" Ellis, Tommy Ceaser, Bryan Towers and the flash Dennis McEvoy all gone to McLaren Vale. Matty Rowe announced to the club he was heading interstate and Mitch Doyle has retired. Matty Elton joining SAPOL and not sure how many games he is playing, if at all. Heard that about 8 have vacated the building and no pick ups. As soon as Batman Westy left, it seems like a big fall out. Ouch was the word coming from the Hawks camp. Normally, at this stage of the year you can count on Mitcham and Portland, being very loose with the yap, yap, but neither is saying a thing. Maybe neither have much in terms of players? - Hollywood or Hardy Hit normally will let us know anyway, but have been strangely quite.

Last I heard Ryan haylock was playing under 18's at The eagles: We make a point of encouraging young guys/others to make their way out to league clubs and Strive to play at the highest possible level. Ryan's a bloody talented footballer, and hopefully will play for us again at some stage down the track - Haven't ehard hes playing elsewhere in the SAAFL.

We've done the Same with Matty Gates, who's playing Eagles u/18's as well, and With Charlie Rae who's having a crack at league.

Last I heard on Georgey was back in October and he was headed for Portland but haven't heard anything for a while. Good lad and can play, and would be welcome back at SMOSH at anytime.

No dramas with us mate - we're going well. Except Sam Morris, who really needs to be ushered into retirement.

Jesus - Milburn! First I've heard of it so I very much doubt it. WOuld be unreal - the guys was an all australian in 2010 for memory? Imagine being a d3 forward and having Darren milburn line up on you. There was talk that Campo would be available more often this year but obviously his crows commitments take first priority - really enjoyed playing with him last eyar - still oozes class and is a top guy, SO Would be fantastic jsut to have him available, even just for 2-3 games.

There's plenty on smosh - has anyone else got updates on 1 of the other 9 teams?

cheers

Ive heard the Milburn rumour is more than just a rumour. Milburn and Camporeale to play the 3 games and qualify for finals  . Do we still have a points system and how many points is someone who played AFL the previous year worth?

Camporeale is 0 points as an ex scholar

milburn not sure who is saying this, but the club has not spoken to him at all. Would be fantastic to have him out there. if we some our managed to get him he would be worth 5 points. and that will take our points to 5 at this stage.

well i have got his signature on my 2007 and 2009 premiership tops. So did have a few words with him before. but was a little intoxicated both times. But no the club has had no words with him. But the club would be more the willing to welcome him to the club if he was looking for a kick.
