Thanks mate.

Guess this will be proof future league results mean more than district results.

Handy bat. Excellent fielder.

Is that better than obriens sheild stats for this season? The redbacks would just about settle for 0/148 ;)

Very generally, this is South Australian cricket.

A lad, Tim Davey, playing for Eastern Eyre today hit 315 in a 40 over game, out of 362, then took four wickets (including a hat trick).
Handy effort in a talent starved state.

After another outright defeat today in the shield match it got me thinking as to Cricket Australia's governance role.

1) Does Cricket Aust governance structure allow for it to place pressure on SACA to get it's on field house in order or else?

2) If so have they already tried or does it come back to constitutions and rights and lawyers?

3) Admittedly Cricket Australia aren't the running the smartest ship at the moment but surely if there is a way they could pressure SACA into onfield reforms in someway. Pressure from above will eventually reach where it needs to get to.

Apologies in advance for any naivety in the thinking.

just a quick run through of this week's 2011/2012 Redbacks in grade cricket

Batsmen
Harris 32*
Blizzard 4
Dougall 0
Borgas 2
Doropoulos 16
O'brien 17
Ludeman 24
Bailey 47

Bowlers
Doropoulos 0/15
Bailey 0/28
Kelly 1/33
Richardson 0/36
Putland 0/34
Sayers 4/37
Tietjans 4/68

Only worthy mentions
Sayers 4/37
Tietjans 4/68
Bailey 47

Team Scores
152
1/86
356
110
146
295
1/8
250
187
0/62

Must bring in new comp for the best 100 players 6 teams i.e North, South, East, West, North East, Central. Keep all the grade clubs as a second league and have two or three divs rather than 4.

This could be done as early next year. Seems basic, and is probably flawed but just quick thought.

Thoughts?

If the SACA players were getting plenty of runs and wickets that would indicated that the standard is poor.
I think the stats you have produced are counter productive to your argument.

Maybe it could be with the mental attitude of the contracted players turning up on a Saturday and going through the motions.

Did hear that very recently the a certain player (ODI Debut today ;) ) had tried to shirk his responsibility to the Grade Competition. Berry stood his ground otherwise could have looked like a complete dill.

A similar system was tried early this century, didn't last long.

During the Greg Chappell era IIRC.

Speaking of which, The concept's revival is closer than you think. Several meetings have taken place with Redback Squad members and invited Grade Cricketers

Results indicate they don't give a carp in state cricket either.
