i will

**** the imports

more needs to be done to produce better players, not just get in the rejects

No we just need to pick better imports. Look at some of the good players who have transferred to other sides. Cowan, Birt, Forrest, Rimmington just to name a few.

add in Wade to that list.

serious question

how do other states run their grade system in terms of number of teams etc?

Edmonson, Ludeman, Theo instead of Cowan, Rimmington and Warner (nearly).

But we've got the team we've got. Gotta live with it for now.

Young players playing their first few state games for other states seem to perform that much better than our youngsters.

It must be a culture problem at Adelaide oval. We surly can not continually be this bad year after year we (SACA) must just accept poor performance?????

Everyone hangs shit on how many NSW players are in the Aust. side yet they keep producing quality cricketers surly at some stage the SACA should look at the way NSW cricket is run and try and mirror there platforms to produce quality cricketers.

Because cleary are system does not work and hasn't for some time now.

just my opinion anyway

Think it's important to look at the population difference between NSW and SA as well, SA is nothing more than a country town in comparison.

You look at young NSW'ers coming through. Surrounded by the likes of Katich at state level.
Young Vics, have Rogers, White, McDonald
Young WA'ers have North

SA has Klinger as it's best. Klinger is a handy player, but he is not on the same level as the other names.

Tasmania have half our population and seem to have no problem winning shields or being competitive. Also providing plenty of players to the Australian sides.

Tassie's internationals:
Cowan (ex NSW)
Cosgrove (ex SA, hasn't played intl since he made the jump)
Ponting (doesn't play for Tas anymore)
Doherty (I'll give you that one)
Paine (may have missed the boat with an untimely injury)
Hilfenhaus (yep, you can have that one too)

Eep, we are in a bit of trouble over here on the mainland...

George Bailey is as good a selection as captain as Nathan Adcock was for SA. HACK.

Yes they punch well above their weight. The last few years they have been around the mark in all 3 forms with a small population. Dont know how their grade system works but they are doing something right.
They also gave us Cox

Difference between our imports and other states is, we get players who have had numerous oppurtunities and over time have proven they are a tad off being up to standard. Other states like Tasmania recruit players who have had shown a little but have had lack of oppurtunites due to their home state being extremly strong ala Cowan (NSW), Birt (VIC).

I agree, poor recruiting. Including Klinger, what has he done for SA cricket besides keep a young lad out of a game?

Stick with the kids but it's just a shame that our kids always fail with the bat first up. 6 team grade comp for me if there is enough talent to go around. Leave the grade set up as is but introduce a new league, with six new teams where the saca hand picks the best 100 players or so and allocates them to redbacks reserves league. That way no grade club will be tossed away with, however the old A grade set up will be weaker and more of a b grade. I think 6 teams is ideal, look at the state set up? Six teams... And our country team has been bad ass for a long time.
