I think that was one of the reasons they wanted to put the 2 Florida teams in with the Leafs and Habs group is that those 2 Canadian teams have massive following and will help boost crowds in Florida.

very true to help make the Money up but The other teams are in the North East not the South it was a stupid, stupid, stupid move by the NHL to do so.

Exactly

Why penalise 2 tradtional clubs just to prop up 2 basket cases.

The main reason they wanted to realign was to get sides in the same time zone. The Jets are at a massive disadvantage having to play everyone in their div in a differant zone

Caps lose 4-2 to the Panthers and surrender top spot in the SE.
Really to need to win the Div as I can only see one side from the SE making playoffs

Panthers were 9th in the east before today-now they're 3rd so you're spot on there Jim.
Caps probably go down to 8th or 9th I'd say.

Talking about how much difference a point makes.

Yes our division is fairly weak this season, the div winner automatically gets a spot but i cant see the runner up or lower getting in.
Caps are 9th now.
Ducks lead Dallas 1-0

it would be 3 traditional clubs, Bruins, Habs and leafs. the other three were Buffalo, Florida and Tampa. big joke by the NHL should have added the two New York Teams and had the Florida teams with Pitt, Phily, Wash, Caro.

On the flip side it looks like the Islanders will be the only Atlantic Division side not in the playoffs

Kinda like how the Canucks won Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals last year 11 second in OT.
