I also put a few strips of turf in that were left over from a nearby roundabout and were pretty dead, they are taking off now and the lawn is moving aggressively across the desolate area.
It wont be up and running for this summer but it's a project for my 6 year old and me, he already stands where the new pitch is going to be a practices his shots from there as it will open up the backyard heaps.
ATM we can only play straight or cover drives but when it's complete we'll have a full array of forward of the wicket shots, a longer pitch and a truer deck.
A mistake I always do is not take before and after shots each time we do a backyard project, I've been inspired now thanks.

Try nearmap to get aerial shots, they are pretty good and update more often than google maps. They have a slider bar where you can check out past photos

How do you do your lines FF1992?
With a $50 note?
No, I mean the pitch lines? Do you have a stencil or something? I used a can of spray paint

Where possible use Santa Anna couch
Scarify the pitch area on a semi regular basis to thin the grass
Topdress after you scarify to level out the pitch
Measure in feet and inches, soooo much easier than metric
The pitch itself is 10' wide (the mown area)
The popping crease is 4' from the back foot crease. Measured from the back of the line
Stumps go in the middle of the back foot crease, so the line goes through the middle of the stump hole.
The return crease is 8'8" wide.
1 day wide lines are marked 17" or 1'5" from the return crease back towards the stumps
The danger area guides are marked, 5' from the popping crease and 1' either side of middle stump
those with a huge yard, the pitch is 66' stump to stump.
