First one is after this weekend the A grade teams play each other only once more and i'm interested in knowing how u think the ladder may shape up come seasons end (B grade also) and who your tips are to take out this years flag in both grades and why?
The other thing I am curious about is the upcoming country carnival held in adelaide. I have heard only 3 Pirie boys will be making the trip as players with Laz going down just to help out incase anyone breaks down during the week. The 3 players are Benny Brown, young Cody Brooke and Tate Bradley. Now I am not saying these players do not deserve selection but how exactly is the team picked. Would be intersted to know if any other locals were asked.

In regards to point 2, probably fair representation considering Pt Pirie has finished last in the inter-city cup the last two years. Ben Brown averaged 20 at the national champs, not setting the world on fire, but good enough to warrant selection.

The premiers will be between Risdons/Southpots/Warnertown in the Bgrade and Wandies/Props/Risdons in the A grade.
clearly a step ahead of their opposition. Not saying this is definite but that is the way I see it at the moment.

Port Pirie cricket obviously doesn't have many players in combined teams as the competition is not very strong in the Agrade...with only 3 competitive teams and a big drop to the next two in regards to results this year. Upsets are possible but are unlikely. How does the Agrade become more competitive, I am not sure...are there any Bgraders who should be playing in the top level? Lack of development? or simply do people not want to play cricket?

Bowled bloody well against victoria for the outbacks contributing massively to the win, saved a game with bat against NT holding on for 55 minutes for the draw, backs the 6 dog and wears formal attire to casual dinners and apprently has two left feet.

All that inbetween underperforming with bat and ball for his soft joke of an A grade side in Port Pirie.

Unless he's been performing well recently?

I wasn't too impressed when I saw him, but I haven't been in Pirie for a while.

Good respone Squids, clever and original as usual.

Had an interesting chat with a close friend today regarding the post by slogging succliff and the story i got was quite diffrent. As a keen cricket follower who has no ties in port pirie cricket i was quite discusted in the version i got. If my source was correct as he usually is, I was told the south port player in trouble was well in his right to be angry. With south port defending late in the innings and asking how many runs required by risdon, I was told the risdon captain gave the wrong amount of runs needed on more than 1 occasion. Now I dont know the lad in question but if this was the case he and his club should be quite dissapointed in his effort. Would be interested to know how close to the truth my source has been.

No Leigh.

Risdons were not actually asked by Southport for the score.

Maybe Southport should stop trying to distract from their captain not being able to handle the pressure.

Please stop making up stories.

Are Southpoorts going to properly register players?

Are Southport not going to put a run in the book when there was a runout and "one short" after taking two runs?

who knows

yes larry he might have a case to be angry with the fact that they were confused as to what the score was and how many runs we needed to win, but to win the game and then carry on calling the risdon team 'cheats' is the reason he was reported, after first calling the square leg umpire a 'cheat' for not giving a close run out call, and being warned by the umpire for it. but hang on the over before that call was made by the square leg umpire the south port team appealed for a run out when clearly the wicket keeper didnt have the ball, did your source tell you that? is that in the spirit of the game? did your source tell you that during south ports innings a clear stumping appeal was turned down by the south port square leg, and that the risdon team didnt abuse him or call him a cheat but simply got on with the game? the blokes out batting told me that the score was yelled out to the batters with five overs to go needing 24 runs to win, the batters heard it plain as day, they were aware of the score they needed, i dont know why the fielders didnt just ask the batters how many they needed. theres always two sides to the story larry.

so before you come on here using words like discusted please be sure that you get all the facts, i will happily discuss on here the issue that you have heard of but please dont make it sound like risdon were 100% in the wrong before you know the whole story.

i would like to say thank you to the few south port blokes out on the field that kept a cool head while all this was going on tho, could have got fairly ugly if they were all following by the captains example

for a keen cricket follower with no ties to pirie cricket you sure post a lot on here larry, didnt you even say that you look forward to playing on port oval in one of your earlier posts. by no ties to pirie cricket i assume you mean that your not affiliated with any pirie cricket teams i could be wrong though

Statistics can lie. I'm not going to try and dress myself up- but I'm pretty awesome. Was just under-utilised.
