I may be talking out of my Uranus.

Had to get a tow to a dealership where they drained the tank,cleaned the fuel line and I think had to do something with the onboard computer which showed some kind of error.Doubt if there will be much change from $1000!
Don't know about learning a lesson but I am now paranoid about refuelling.Filled up twice since tuesday and just stare at the pump and start sweating and sobbing.
As for your disclaimer,Ithink you are ok on this occasion

toothpaste....when I were a lad, you would squeeze the toothpaste from the bottom of the tube as it ran out and it would stay at the top of the tube ready to go next time. nowdays you fight the stuff to the top of the tube in the morning and 12 hours later at bedtime brushing the shit has slumped to the bottom of the tube again. it give me the shits!

Just read this, I can't imagine what fault code would have come up ?? Maybe it was an old one stored on the ECU memory.

Don't feel bad, I think some of the service station pumps are not labelled anywhere near good enough. I think that the yellow pumps are standard unleaded in some service stations, but premium unleaded in others.

We had a guy do the same as you did to his Commodore 3 weeks ago. We drained his tank, put 20 litres of clean fuel in it, flushed the fuel lines & she fired up. As long as you don't start it ( ie , let the diesel get into the fuel injectors ) you should be able to sort it out.

It could be worse, you could be the owner of a diesel vehicle that puts petrol in it.
