South now offer nothing for the country supporter who can only get to 2 or 3 games per year. It is all now centred around receiving entry to grounds, either all games or home games only.

I liked it when you could just pay your $50 to be a country member and get the sticker to put on your car. The minimum cost now is not worth it for people in my boat.
Hi, My name is Ron 'Bluey' Dunn. Did you know I played in the 61 & 62 Tasman Premiership sides....

Even though I'm offered free membership at Central for volunteering there, I still like to pay my annual membership fee.

I will also become a financial member of the Eagles again, in 2012, after losing a bet on the outcome of 2011 GF with PhilH.

That's simular to what happens to me, free entry tickets and that, but I pay money for a membership, just to help the club with finances so that we don't lose money, just hope the pokie thing doesn't go through.

Renewed mine back in November as soon as they became available.

Always signed up as a 'Country Member' before but in future will be opting for the new 'International Member' package that the Club's introducing.

I have emailed Ben kavenagh our CEO outlining my concerns with my mobile phone number to call me .... I got a short response telling me to refer to the clubs website detailing why they are doing it ( getting rid of country and general membership ) I have always stuck up for my club and have never emailed the club before but listening to a few people tell me their concerns over the new membership I thought I had too .... I know people in nursing homes/country supporters/interstate people/shift workers who are proud south members over many years of their lives who now will get no benefit from the new membership structure . I have always stuck up for south but I am finding this decision extremely disappointing :( I thought I may had a phone call as well ....

There are 2 options - $130 for all home games or $190 for all home and away games ...thats it. Take it or leave it.

I thought South wanted more locals to sign up as members?

Bring back the $60 general membership and make people who cant get to as many games very happy and a proud member again.

I dont get what the club are getting at....but the response is that they get all the gate money if tickets are sell prior to game day with the membership. They get 100% as if they are sold on the day the SANFL gets some and its also given to other clubs.

Very disappointed.!!!! :(

BTW...I wont renew unless this situation changes.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Might be a slightly better outcome for the club financially, but not a good move in my opinion if it's alienating loyal fans like yourself Southee...

Sadly I also will not be able to take on an SAFC membership with the increase made for members this season. Incredibly annoyed and not happy over the direction the club is taking. If the club change prior to the season starting I will get the normal membership, if they dont then I may well take out a West Adelaide membership instead, reason being that we reguarly eat with family and friends at the club as its a centrally located venue and there are good incentives to do so - kids eat free on Saturdays, 2 for 1 meals and so on. With added discount for a membership it makes sense to be a member.

I wish I did not have to work on odd hours at weekends, yet the fact is that outside of night matches at the SANFL I find it hard to get to all the home matches, hence I normally go to whoever is playing often at the Parade or now Richmond. If South no longer wish to cater for every membership category that is their own stupid decison.

Not a great PR move by South. :?

Last year I was in the boat of not knowing for certain how many games I'd be able to get to, so just opted for the basic membership.

Postby Bunton » Fri Jan 20, 2012 11:04 am

Living in the Country, I too used to just get the just get the $60 dollar membership (don't think South have had a country membership for a few years now?) and just pay at the gate for the 4-5 games I can get to a year thinking my gate money was also goign to the club - until recently, did not realise that this is actually collected and retained by SANFL.

Knowing that I'm very happy to upgrade to the membership with home game pass - assumig I can get to 5 games it equals about the same anyway when you consider it will be $14 per game (x 5 = $70) plus the $60 for the membership. Plus we now also get entry to 4 AFL games; not that I will use them.

If this helps my club more, then count me in.

I understand Glenelg and the Eagles have a very similar structure?

I too will pay my membership but iám a little dissappointed the club didn't consider our elderly or country supporters in this year membership, I understand the club's logic in this year package but feel some concession should be considered.
