Perhaps we should limit it to ex AFL players who actually had an impact at AFL level

Nope - Leon Davis to Perth trumps that
(Apologies for the 6 year bump - it's been a long off-season  )

Ben Hart played more than 300 games, was a two time premiership player. Don't think Leon trumps this.

Agree. Davis was also a dud come finals time. Hart kept us in the 98 grand final (as well as North's bad kicking)with a great first half on Sholl.

Fevola probably trumps them both for last season with the Casey Scorpions.

Not sure about Fevola. He is more high profile because of his off field issues and only played at State League level out of necessity not because he was at the end of a lengthy AFL career? Fev is / was a very good player, a tad inconsistent but better than Ben Hart, not sure about that? That is very subjective aerguement comparingn players especially given one was exclusively a defender and the other a forward but Hart had a much longer AFL career, played in two flags etc., what has Fev done?

Ben Hart is one of the greats of the AFL. Fevola and Davis were for a short time good players at the same level. If you had the option to draft either Hart or both Davis and Fevola as 17 year olds knowing everything that would pass then you'd take Hart each and every time.

Ben Hart was a great one club player for the crows, however his "best" was nowhere near that of Fevola or Davis

Three very different players, but I'd take Hart followed by Fevola and then Davis.

Fevola is probably the most brilliant out of that lot, but very questionable if his worth to the team is more than Ben Hart.

Hart was a great backman of the AFL and his influence in the finals for North the year he played was significant IMO (along with Howard and Motlop).
