Any chance you mentioned it because you won a prize?
Looks like you just pipped me ya bugger, Congrats! :D

Before Christmas we ran a competition over this site for those interested to submit their best Rooster team for the period 1990 to 2000.

We received many most interesting and varied responses and on behalf of our Club I thank everyone of you who entered into the spirit of thiscompetition.

The Judging Panel narrowed the submissions down to 4 in the end, from which two winning entries were agreed upon.

Of the 21 players named by the Panel, 3 entrants selected 17 players each, those being Jim McInnes, Anthony Wegener and Ian Button and Barry Mitchell selected 16 of the 21.

The two winning entries chosen were those by Jim McInnes and Ian Button as they both had the most equal number of players chosen in their correct positions.

The Rooster Team of the Decade {as selected and placed by the Judging Panel} is as below

By way of reader interest, other players to receive several favourable mentions by entrants were Squire, Parker, Gerke, Saunders, Morton and Atkinson.

Both Jim McInnes and Ian Button will receive a framed print of our Club's Team of the Century print for their successful submissions.

AND AGAIN, THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to send in their entries for this competition.

Your Team of the Decade 1990 - 2000

Because it was based on games played for North (ie North's team of the decade) and not games played for Sturt.
Squire didn't even aquire 1 magarey vote the year before he left.
Must admit I didn't have Ladhams in my side, he's only burnt for us in the 2000s IMHO.

I love mens logic (not really) How the hell did D.Jarman get selected in front of A. Jarman? The selectors cant still be catty about the move to the redlegs, it shouldnt make a difference, as Darren only stayed on for 1 more year before shafting Adelaide and going to Hawthorn.... :?

Umm, quite easily Falcon Chick, its a team of the 1990-2000 period.
Andrew Jarman didnt' play one game for North Adelaide after 1989.
You're right though, that's men's logic for you, I'm buggered if I'll ever understand women's logic if they think someone that didn't even play in the decade involved should be included. Perhaps we should throw Barrie Robrand and Ken Farmer in it too?

Just FYI Andrew Jarman is the starting centre in North's team of the century, so I'm not sure how we've been catty about his move to the redlegs as that was decided upon in 2000 before he even came back to North as a coach.

I like the North Adelaide logic that a team of a DECADE covers a period of 11 years (1990-2000)!!!

Glenelg+sucesss=not much!

Seriously I can't understand how John Riley made the team - he was lucky to have played one year 1990 by memory. Team of the 80's no problems.

The year he played in the premiership side he won the reserves medal, he played more reserves game than league.
In other years he was servicable but wouldn't get close to ousting playes like Klomp, Sims, Francou, Nunan, Burton, etc.
I would have him ahead of Ladhams that one completely bamboozles me and may have cost me the win in the comp!

Couldn't agree more against everyone else in finals we are shite

But face out when it comes to finals footy you are our bitches, from nine finals we've had seven wins, four GF's three wins......

Hope you enjoyed the 86 2nd semi and 87 GF......

Always feel that little bit more confident playing you blokes, Sturt, Norwood, Port different story.....

From memory he played through to 1993 and clobbered about 12 Westies players in the 1991 GF, that's enough in my book.

Seriously though, it was probably out of him, Parker and Rosemboom for a forward spot and I'd rather have Parsons in the pocket complimenting DJ at FF. Plus he was a premierhsip player too. Definately in my team.
