HFL Division 1 (Central)

Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Believe a certain club near the ranges is asking to go back to country next season. May be another as well depending on how the river flows this year. Not going to pay players so they are all leaving and they both owe shitloads of coin around the place. Wonder if the parents of the junior players are aware of their clubs intentions. I know if it was my kid I would go to another club as would not want to go all over the countryside like the kids do in country division. Think we are starting to see the stupidity of high player payments starting to take effect. Sponsors are starting to say enough is enough. They may end up with a 10 team country if the stars align. Have heard that 2 other clubs are talking with the SFL re 2013 due to same sort of money issues. Time will tell.

These sorts of rumors pop up every single year and nothing ever changes! The teams are set for 2012 so how about we get some talk on this year instead of 2013 already. Any other news floating around at the moment?

i think the bigger issue is that one or two central division clubs are in serious financial difficulty. one club in particular is finding things very tough at the moment, with considerable monies owed to creditors. the club in question has experienced considerable on-field success over the past decade and their situation serves as a warning to others.

Is this rumor your attempt in trying to lure young players from neighboring sides in order to bolster playing stocks in your dwindling junior program out at cabbage land?

Did see Mt Lofty are laying bitumen around their oval. Wouldn't think a club would do so if they were in financial difficulty or lacking sponsors.

Every year there is a different club that is apparently in dire financial trouble. It's never been true yet.

There is no doubt that there is some stupid money being thrown at players across the whole of South Australia. However one thing that if often overlooked is that some money spent is getting fans in the gate. I know at my club there are a lot of people who had little or no affiliation with the club who started to come and watch Hills football. They enjoyed the games and the standard that paid players bring to the games, and continue to come week after week. Some stay in their cars, some get out have a beer and a chat. After a while they become club members, sponsors, valuable volunteers or even players. Im not saying that some of the money isnt stupid, but I am a firm believer that when managed in the right way player payments can strengthen clubs on and off the field, both in a social and financial sense.

We're having a few issues with players leaving, some to River Murray, some to country div and some to Torrens valley. I'd not rather state names though.

Phil Smith has signed with Imperials and I reckon you will find Ben Herbig will play at Nairne.

Lobethal on the hunt at Central District - might be finally going to spend some of that money they've been saving for the last 5 years!

Any ideas on who?

The Tigers have some exciting young players through the midfield but could do with some top quality experience to help bring the side on a bit more from last year.

Lobe-feral... met some of their players recently at a function. No class whatsoever, off their heads on something and spoke like hicks from some far away town without electricity. Hope this was just a minority as you wouldn't get me out there, certainly wouldn't leave my personal belongings alone in the changerooms. Probably find them at cash converters the next day. They'd want to sell a different brand to recruits from the one I saw.
