That bloke must have photos on most of the Westies Board in a variety of compromised positions to have served up that start to the season and then lose a crazy number of games and easily miss out on finals , well he cant say West never give him a go ! Like the Bays from a year ago , a year to go on his contract must be surely saving the coaches job . The spectre of Mickan makes this one a must watch closely for all SANFL fans in 2012 , lets hope for Blood @ the Bloods

I don't think Glenelg are going to be quite as weak as some people are making out. Kirk, Tenace, McMahon, Allen, Rudolph, Kirkby, Mules, and Davenport are all going to be there as far as I know. I think they'll miss the finals, but I see them doing better than Port, who've got far fewer players of the calibre of the Tigers I mentioned. (Meiklejohn, Summerton, Harder, Clayton, maybe Dolling).

So to debate this further, you've listed the only 8 names still remaining at Brighton Rd that anyone has actually heard of, including Tenace who has displayed all the "calibre" of a spud gun.

Then you reckon the likes of Sam Gray, Hoskins, Beard, Mercer, Kirkwood, Erskine... should be left off the Port list, and Dolling is a "maybe"?

This is clearly an example of why a WTF emoticon should be added.

I think they'll miss the finals, but I see them doing better than Port, who've got far fewer players of the calibre of the Tigers I mentioned. Think Port are a very strong chance of making the five this season, they were regarded by many to have a thin list last season but still managed to win a number of games and punched above their weight, they have added to that list with some good recruiting and clearly they have a quality Senior Coach which helps their cause also.

My mail from my source at West says their AFL players were the big difference early before injuries hit them , but the times we saw them they played like Rini Coolan was helping Collins out ie. clueless and confused ! At least with say Port and South , you can see their game style on field thats being driven by their coaches ; the same cant be said of West under Collins as I dont count overly defensive tactics as that stuff usually ends up getting coaches sacked ala Brenton Honour @ Bays

Actually must admit that from a distance I thought AFL player availability made Westies very strong early doors .. Happy to be corrected because I didn't follow them overly closely, just the way it seemed at the time.
