Yep, teeing off at Thaxted tomorrow morning at 8am :)

How was it Phil?
I am playing Mt Lofty tomorrow and Port Hughes next week.

With it only being my 2d round in 13 months, since my knee reconstruction, I was reasonably happy with the round. The course was a little dry and the greens were mostly slow but overall, it was just nice to be out on the course again.

Had a nice 15ft birdie putt sink and generally putted well but I keep hitting left, coming across it too much, with my irons and am too afraid to over compenstate this by aiming more to the right.

My short game needs a lot of improvement and probably need to get to the range to straighten the driver up but overall, was happy with 104.

My brother, who has been playing most weekends for a while now, only just beat me with a 102 and I had a 9 in my round.

Mt Lofty is in good nick.
Finished with 86 off the stick, drove well but suffered in the other areas.
Had 3 birdies, 9th, 16th & 17th.
Tells you how bad I went in some of the other holes.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

Played the Dunes yesterday and was impressed.
Tough conditions with strong winds.
Finished with 28 points, taking into account the conditions and not playing there previously I was fairly happy.
Greens and fairways were in excellent condition.
Only downside was the dual pins on each hole. Fired at the wrong ones on a couple of occasions.
Would recommend a buggy if you play there as their is a bit of distance between greens and tees. (Take some beers & ice as the have an esky on board ;)
Be a long time before it is an proper 18 hole course.

It's great to see more Links golf coming to South Australia. What do you think of the development? Any value there? And do they have a timeframe on finishing the back nine?

We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Played Mt Lofty this morning with my brother, the course is in good nick but I forgot, having only played there once before about 4 years ago, that if you are not straight off the tee, you are usually in a tough position for your 2nd shot (or in the creek as I found myself on the 9th - TWICE !!!)

Ended up with a terrible front 9, shooting 59 off the stick, couldn't hit the driver straight and didn't have much luck trying to get myself back onto the fairways with 2nd and 3rd shots. Putted okay and had a couple lip the edge of the hole on a few occassions.

Much improved on the back 9, shooting 41 off the stick (for a nice round 100 even) but used the iron off the tee on a few holes and managed to get my short game back on track and again putted well. Had a nice 30m chip in on the par 3, 13th and then had a 18ft par saving put sit on the lip of te cup for a couple of seconds before dropping in.

My brother shot 107 so happy to gt the points on him, as he has been playing every weekend for the last 6 months basically and today was only my 3rd round in 13 months since my knee reconstruction. Now to work on the driver and try and get back under 100 on a regular basis again.

That's the plan, now I'm back on the course and in the swing* of things again, now that the knee is better.

*Sorry, couldn't help myself

I like that course, although it would be a good 18 months since I last played it. I'll never forget the round I played there with a mate in absolutely shocking conditions. We were out on the back 9 and it just pelted down and we got drenched through to the bone. We both drove home in just our undies that day, got a few weird looks from truckies on the way home !!!

I wont be going back in a hurry.

Good layout but condition of the course is very poor, just needs more water, yet there is plenty in the dams around the course :?

Dry sections on the fairway, tee blocks and greens. Greens riddled with poa and bunkers in poor nick.

Should have gone to Willunga.

Played North Haven today.

Less said about the course condition the better at present. Understand that it's summer, but it was bare as dirt in many parts. Liked the course layout, though.

My mate used to work the pro-shop there so played North Haven many times. I don't mind the course but can imagine it would be pretty dry in the summer.

What did you shoot CK?
