Mallee Match Preview –14/4/2007
Murrayville v Lameroo
Murrayville have recruited well after a poor season in 2006. Heath Rodgers returns as coach along with Rian Crane. Justin Hentschke comes with a big reputation and should provide a boost to the midfield. Lee Crane will be a big loss as he was one of the better performers, along with Tyson Senior last year.
Drew Crane will welcome the support this year, as will Luke Kirkbright & Dallas Willersdorf.
Lameroo have only lost Lachlan Abbott, but have gained Ben Venning (West Adelaide Reaerves) & Michael Pfitzner (Naracoorte). Rodney Maynard will have a very experienced side to try to go one better than last years runner up. Brad & Craig Zerk, Dan Wohling, Shaun Walker & Chris Philbey help to form a formidable line up.
Lameroo to win over a much improved Murrayville.
Karoonda v Pinnaroo
Karoonda have lost a lot of scoring options with Brad Martin, Corey Knight & Ryan Paech not playing in 2006, along with Brad Wakefield, Damien Cross & Craig Fidge.
Jason Morris (Tailem Bend) will fill the ruck vacancy, with James Reed (Ceduna) & Damien Miller (Aldinga) to strengthen the midfield. Luke Hocking, Simon Martin, Todd Boughen, Justin Maloney, Lucas Neumann, Adrian Gregory & Eli Koch provide the core of a good team.
Pinnaroo have gained Heath Boseley (Padthaway), Chad Nickolls (BDT), Clint Muster (Berri) & Brett Gum (Edwardstown) while having no substantial losses. Coach Paul Pitkin will be looking for an injury free season, Sunyl Vogt gets better each year & Nick Westphalen, Alex Keogh, Alan Halls & Mark Gum will be important players this year.
Karoonda can win a close match at home.
BDT v Peake
BDT have lost Jed Northcott, Jarred Schilling, Brad Kleinig & Brett Todd. There is some doubt about Ryan Schell, Bruce Connor & Gavin Jacobs, while Josh Richardson will probably miss the first few games with an injured thumb. Incoming players Ashley Masters (Adelaide Uni), Jarvis Webb (Rostrevor), Jed Hicks (Mt Compass), Michael Brighton (Naracoorte) & Greg Nunan (Mt Barker) should offset their losses.
Matt Schilling improved each match last year and with Clint & Lachlan Richardson, Mark Vandeleur and Ben Hooper should provide plenty of pace to trouble most sides. The loss of Chad Nickolls & Leroy Rosensweig will leave a gap in the ruck division.
Peake are an unknown quantity. Gains are Shaun Holland, Michael Munro, Paul Fitzgerald, Mark Boothey, Tim Aloisi, Ian Henderson (all Paralowie), James Kilpatrick (Flinders Park) & Brad Carling (Westminster). Aaron Barney has transferred to Ramblers in Murray Bridge.
It will take a couple of games to judge how much Peake will improve in 2007.
BDT to start the year with a win over Peake.
