Not sure how you figure this, removing games from the highest drawing team at the best attended oval and handing them to South Adelaide would seem to achieve the polar opposite.
Heretical I know.

A pretty simple point that none of the AFL apologists on here seem to want to address.
One can only guess at their motives.

There is a difference between aiming to maximize attendances as SANFL have and simply favoring teams with the draw as AFL do with programming of Friday night games and blockbuster games etc. The SANFL are starting from an equitable share of home games, timeslots etc. and allowing clubs to decide on venues and timing for their games to maximize their home crowds.

I'm not expecting the SANFL to favour anybody, just stating that from a Norwood point of view the league is NOT trying to maximize our home game attendances, maybe from another team's perspective they are. Regardless, I don't think its as simple as the clubs choosing their ground and game time otherwise we'd never settle on a draw and I'm very interested to hear how the SANFL have tried to maximize attendances for the whole draw and all of the clubs.
I know the draw is as even as possible but there is no way Norwood would want most of our home night games when they are scheduled from an attendance perspective - that's all I was saying.

Hopefully the lights are ready in time for Round 1 - it will be an awesome way to start the season! At the very least it should get 5,000; hopefully the weather is kind and it gets plenty of promotion. Especially since it is the first ever match under lights for premiership points at Thebarton, and the unfurling of the premiership flag. We have never had a stand alone match to open the season before; the 2000 season saw a double header to kick off Norwood/West then Eagles/Port at Football Park is the closest.
The ANZAC Day match is interesting in that the last time we played the 'Grand Final Rematch', it was also on a Wednesday. 4,631 was the attendance at Thebarton. In an ideal world, it would be at Adelaide, but we all know the reasons; how and why it came to be. 6,358 were at Adelaide last year; 4,884 at Elizabeth the year before.
South seems keen to play a night match against us, but what about West? Over the past two seasons, they have played every other club at least once:
Team W L
Central 1 -
Glenelg 1 1
North 1 -
Norwood 1 1
Port 2 -
South 1 -
Sturt 2 -
While it would be nice to have a night game at Glenelg too, the Queens Birthday match is just as good. We last played on that day in 2003 - 4,215 was the attendance; also against the live telecast, too. The last occasion that match has been on TV.
I'd hope we get the following rounds' match moved to the Sunday.
While the finals matches are not concreted for a particular day, they would be mad (or just plain square) not to try the Friday night Preliminary/Saturday Grand Final time slots.

Night games at Coopers Stadium - 4 in 2011, 6 in 2012
Night games at Coopers Stadium before mid May when weather is generally at its best - 1 in 2011, 3 in 2012
The last 3 night games scheduled in 2012 are in late July/early August when the weather is getting better. In 2011, 1 of the 4 games was in late June when the weather is normally at its worst.

I'm up to sometime in July and it hasn't been very difficult.
