Are the lights getting an upgrade there (or have they already been upgraded?) because I remember a 'twilight / night' 6 quarter trial game between Central and the Eagles at Thebby a couple of years ago and the players were complaining about the lack of light then and it was very hard to see the play late in the 6th quarter on the outer side.

I know gridiron is currently being played at Thebby at the moment, anyone been there to be able to comment?

SANFl games are only 4 quarters at a guess.

Another ridiculously stupid fixture list...

... the league has no idea.

It was run be people with brains 30 years ago, now it seems to be run by complete morons.

Sturt has 3 byes in 11 rounds and once again they can't grasp the simple notion that each team should just play the other 8 over 9 rounds, then repeat it in the same order at the opposite ground, then play the first 4 teams again to make 20 matches. How hard is it to do that for crying out loud. I hate playing some team in round 10 and then playing them again in round 15, geez, it just wreaks of being sometihng cobbled together by the village idiot.

Agree wholeheartedly.

Comparing Chandler to a village idiot is very harsh though.

We all know your commonplace village idiot would come up with a much more sensible draw than that nimrod.

Why do people just accept mediocrity ? Obviously we don't organise the SANFL draw but does that mean we must sit down like good children and not comment ? No one is saying the draw can be perfect but there are some programming errors that could be identified when reviewed surely . Should we all just shut up when we don't agree and say "well it's ok as I haven't done it ". Geez we would never get anywhere having that mentality.

The biggest laugh for me was reading about programmming to maximise attendances .

From a club viewpoint I'm not fussed about the draw. It's always seemed pointless to me to be saying "Oh it's all against us - woe is us" If a club is going to get anywhere, they've got to beat all the rest anyway. It evens out in the end. My criticism is that the league has missed a golden opportunity to start the season with a high profile round, considering there's only one AFL game that weekend and that's GWS v Sydney on the Saturday night. I doubt that too many people in SA will be staying home and organizing a big party for that :?

The situation of the Bye's does seem at face value an incredulous decision, especially if you are a Sturt supporter whose club appears to bear the brunt of it.

Clearly the SANFL have a desire to finish the season after the AFL season and have chosen to participate in the Foxtel Cup and the State Matches necessitating some different programming around those events. I am not sure how set in concrete the draw is once released, clubs have in the past changed game times and caused the fixture to be changed accordingly, perhaps it is possible for the Sturt FC to petition the SANFL for changes and to put up an alternate plan that takes in all the things the SANFL have to work around in the programming?

I've had a crack at round one and I've gone for the revolutionary idea of having most of the teams playing.

Two minutes in and I've achieved more than the geniuses at west lakes have in three months.

Geez you're a nasty piece of work.

Forget about drafting Round 1. How about wowing us with a full fixture, complete with allowances for State Games, Foxtel Cup participation, even distribution of byes and allowing for a finish 1 week post AFL Season.

That ought to at least shut you up for the next couple of months?

I've made it easier by getting rid of the Foxtel cup, only the little diddy clubs play in it anyway.

Will pm you the new draw a bit later tonight, should only take a minute now we've got rid of that pissant little comp.

Grab the 1990 fixtures and whoever plays Woodville gets the bye.

There's 95% of the work done in 5 seconds.

Personally, I don't care too much about the draw as my team will be there at the end if they're good enough. The thing for me is that looking at the fixture from a Norwood point of view, there's no way the league can be claiming a desire to maximize attendances.

I often disagree with smac, but he's certainly no dullard.

We have a problem though, as I often agree with you ;)

A pretty simple point that none of the AFL apologists on here seem to want to address.

One can only guess at their motives.
