He is probably right ROH. Maybe the deciding factor for mods was he thought the delivery in to the forward line would not be up to scratch.

Yee-ouch! Good morning lads!
Hasn't a few boys recieved an absolute bath compliments of YEVA and Footynut.
All are entitled to there own opinion however Im more than a little sure that when playing for Athelstone reserves Bassani played seven maybe 8 games total due to a bulged disc and cyatic nerve problems???
You boys... should be very careful with your words when baggin others as it almost comes across as a hint of jealousy.
Are there really even two of you??? Or simply some whimpy knobhead having a conversation with himself, funny how you were both posting in tandem....
Who do you play for/support footy nut or YEVA (which ever you wish to reply to)?

Fair comment FM but yes there is two people (dont know footynut, pag can probably vouch for that)
and definitely no jealousy either, far from it.
Have played with the EB coach before and to be honest he can produce at times but when the going gets tough he's no where to be seen.
As, i said before he may prove us wrong and do well(in coaching), good on him, but from the point of view of a good club man and friend? :?: :?: He picks and chooses them to suit him and he is always talking himself up as footynut can a test. That is why i have my doubts over him and what clubs do as far as research goes?
My club is a part of the SAAFL nothing to do with GSFL

Firstly Newman if Mods did play at Encounter, i am certain the delivery would have been to his liking. He would never had to break stride.

It also seems a few people are very critical of Bassanis coaching , when at the moment he doesnt have a coaching record to speak of. Time will tell how good a coach he becomes, but at the moment he has done a great job. At the end of season if Encounter Bay are 0-18 you would suggest the football experts (Footynut and Yeva) are right, if Encounter are 18-0 there will be a few quiet boys on this forum.

fair enough ROH, just voicing and opinion on the footy forum.
me, quiet .. not here
I will be the first one to say well done from the coaching point of view,
i know you have to start some where but what i want to know is why they choose him for the job
with no experience (or is there?)and knowing the fact that he likes talking himself up.
could it be a case of some getting the job because they are good at interviewing :?: :?:

encounter bay will not be 18-0, not a chance.
they will be around the middle of the pack, and improve as the season goes on, i expect them to finish in the top 5.
if these recruits are as good as some are suggesting they may push for top 3, but langhornes, strath and willunga are still the 3 to watch!

I guess you need to either interview well or have good coaching record. I will agree that Bassani talks very well and would have sold himself very well to the footy club.
He has brought some good players as well as good people to the club, which i think the club is very happy with at the moment.

The hardest thing will be how quickly the new players gel with local boys. So far its been good, but until Round 1 i guess it counts for nothing.

very true, i suppose the fact that there were a few hanger-onners could of been a deciding factor.
if he can do a good job off integrating the new and old then all could be good,
some of us oldies have been around long enough to have their doubts about this!
especially when there has been others saying about 15-20 clearances put it for EB

Just thought I would do a bit of research seeing as everyone is giving Encounter Bay for the amount of new recruits. So I looked at all the clearances into the team compared to clearances out of the team and the figures are quite interesting...

EncBay- INS 19 OUTS 17 Total= +2

Mypnga- INS 16 OUTS 3 Total= +13

MtComp- INS 8 OUTS 4 Total= +4

Wilnga- INS 4 OUTS 2 Total= +2

Strath- INS 3 OUTS 3 Total= 0

Victor- INS 18 OUTS 8 Total= +10

LanCrk- INS 11 OUTS 5 Total= +6

Saints- INS 12 OUTS 11 Total= +1

Mclarn- INS 12 OUTS 7 Total= +5

Yankla- INS 6 OUTS 11 Total= -5

So from this you can see that Encounter Bay are right on the money as to how many players they have recruited. I have no idea why no way has mentioned Victor and Myponga seeing as everyone is so critical on the amount of players you are allowed to recruit!!!
Once again these clearances in and out of clubs are not always A grade players and are not always PAID players so you cannot simply look at how many clearances are put in by any one club.

Winners in bold...

ENCOUNTER BAY V SAINTS
MYPONGA/SELLICKS V LANGHORNE CK
STRATHALBYN V MT COMPASS
MCLAREN V WILLUNGA night match
YANKALILLA V VICTOR HARBOR

For some reason I don't think it's going to show up in bold so...
Encounter Bay to beat Saints
Langhorne to beat Myponga
Strathalbyn to beat Mt Compass
Willunga to beat McLaren
Victor to beat Yankalilla
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

ROUND 1 APRIL 14TH
ENCOUNTER BAY V SAINTS
MYPONGA/SELLICKS V LANGHORNE CK
STRATHALBYN V MT COMPASS
MCLAREN V WILLUNGA night match
YANKALILLA V VICTOR HARBOR

bays to beat saints comfortably.
pongy to maybe give langhornes a run for first half, then langhornes to get away and win by 15.
strath and compass maybe game of the round. both teams to improve this season. im gonna tip strath at home to win by 5.
willunga to beat mclarens by 10-15 at least. see how mclarens shape up with a few guys coming back to the club.
victor to account for yank easily, yank my tip for wooden spoon.

not sure on that. i am thinking around 630 is a good bet, properly dark by then and thats when the a grade game will start.
mclarens have there problems trying to match up with todd steele and the rest of the willunga talls. if guys like broughton and co can contain this height the game will be a lot closer.

Yeah boys thats correct, 6:30pm time.
Will thompson (think I got it right) pull on the boots in round one for willunga?
McLaren will have a bit of pace and I dont think that Victor will have an easy day out.
Very keen to see how Mypo and Compass go as they will be looking for big efforts in round one.
All might not be that easy at EB as they head into round one with a couple of outs due to injury.
