Season 2012 will be played over 24 rounds instead of the usual 23 round format with each team having 4 byes instead of the usual 3.

Seriously start of the season and you have 5 teams starting with a bye. What a joke

Just had a closer look at the fixture and I seriously want to know WTF the SANFL are playing at. The eagles have again drawn the short straw in terms of bye placement not once but twice in 2012 we have a 2 week break between games.

We have drawn the bye in round 9 and the week immediately after is the state game and then later in the season we are drawn byes in consecutive rounds in 18 and 19.

How could they make that big a stuff up?

Port (state game, round 10), North (rounds 14 & 15), and Glenelg (rounds 15 & 16) also have two week breaks.

Seeing as though this is the third year in a row that the Eagles have had the two week break towards the end of the season, perhaps the club actually requests it? It worked last year.

And best of all, all finals at Footy Park. Good to see the SANFL listening to the players and the officials of clubs.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Like the first round schedule for us.

1st match of the season everyone's hungry for footy.
On a warm Friday autumn night under lights at great venue.
Against Port

Subject to weather , this will get 5000, I would think.

Do they have flagpoles at Thebby to raise the 2011 Premiership Flag?

Have the lights improved significantly at Thebarton in the last few years.

I remember going to to a trial game (Eagles v Central I think?) a few years ago and barely could see anythong in the last quarter as the lights were horrible.

Don't see where else they're meant to play as AO will probably be a construction site

I note that my mob also has consecutive byes, and am not happy with this.

My guess: The SANFL is forced to design its program around the WankTel cup. That a sovereign competition has to pervert its operation in order to accommodate the vagaries of a pretend competition is simply arse-backwards. What is more important - a balanced SANFL draw, or a "competition" whose raison d'etre is to give AFL viewers something to ignore in between AFL matches? If the FakeTel cup cannot be reorganised properly - ideally outside the regular SANFL season - then it is high time to tell the AFL and Foxtel to jam their plastic cup.

So they can play minor round games at suburban ovals no problem. Who cares what the water boys think.

Pretty sure the rest of Australia sees it the other way around.

The number of people in this state who bitch about the AwFuL swallowing up football, then something comes along that actually promotes non-AFL football and the bitching continues.

IT'S JUST STAGGERING!! Or as Aurelio Vidmar so eloquently described, Pissant.
