I knew someone would point out how my post would be inconsistent with other issues in life, but that's my thoughts on the issue.

Yes for gay marriage.

Brother in law
1st cousin

Does it affect me - absolutely not

However I'm not sold on adoption for same sex couples due to potential bullying

Not concerned about gay marriages one way or the other, but fully agree with this last line.

Maybe if a couple is on their 3rd or 4th child, but for a couple who are trying for their 1st or 2nd child IVF should definately be a valid option no question.

Preface this by saying I am not in that situation, I just don't believe because we CAN do it that we SHOULD do it. In addition to the population argument, I believe that is the hand nature has dealt someone, put up with it.

But science has a solution. I look at some families and think they shouldn't be breeding.

As someone who has had to go through IVF, I say **** you. Toughest experience I've ever had. I can only hope nature deals you a rough trot.

Some thoughts should be left in your head. You can't deny people the opportunity to parent.

Life has weird ways of evolving, you need a licenece to drive a car, you can't watch an R rated movie until you are 18 but you can parent a child with no manual, test, licence and at any age after puberty.
No wonder we end up with so many mis-fits.

I beleive that IVF is a great medical advancement, and the screening tests they do are a whole lot more stringent than the back seat of your car. Like I said if couples are having trouble conceiving and would like to use IVF option, the technology should be accessible to them especially for the first or second child. I'm not entirely sold on using it for any more kids than that but that is just my opinion.

I've never been through it but could imagine the heartache, we had 6 mis-carriages before, in between and after our kids, that hurt.

interesting that as far as i'm aware, the word 'marriage' is derived from a greek word meaning " a union between man and woman'

Not against it as such but as far as having kids go, no I don't agree with that at all.

Regarding the first part, that's fine, I expect that reaction.
As far as the second part goes, if that happens, then so be it, I am not the only creature on this earth.

Read on the politics forum that Labour are trying to get the gay marriage law past so they can generate votes for themselves, if true smart move IMO.

Not quite, the Left faction want the laws amended. Given that Gillard opposes it and her cabinet reshuffle has rewarded the right faction of her party I don't think we are likely to see it become official party policy any time soon.

Aha, I didn't know that.
