Not sure it will be an issue. Looks like we will all be washed out this week

It's a bit of voodoo and black magic, but if you trust the forecast maps, seems we might get a start, rain expected to hit in the afternoon at some stage between 2pm and 8pm...

I watched Pooraka v Gepps then went and watched the end of Hills v Brahma (bloody cold). What do you think about the idea of having some divisions in the 20-20's? Then clubs could enter more than one team if they really wish (granted it's nice to have the whole club supporting the one game your club is playing, but could be optional), more specifically we could play and have a fighting chance.
I also heard that ATCA had more nominations from clubs wanting to play then spots in the 32 team structure. So seems demand is there.

The problem is if you introduce more teams then you also have more games, and one of the clear indications the turf got back from clubs after last season was that there were too many T20 games (some players played upto 14, plus then any internal ones as well).

On a personal level, I'd love to play more, but I can see how 14 T20 games can be a bit over the top.

Current is 3 round robin games then your into a finals knockout system that has i think 4 rounds.
Last year it was 5 then 4, plus the SAMCA tournie had 5 or 6 games as well.

I always thought they should have a LO T20 comp where only LOA-F players are allowed to play. Must have played 80% of games in the LO grades... Something like that!?

Yeah it did, ended up being a bit rushed as it was difficult finding a weekend that suited all, everyone will be better prepared for round 2.

PS: Sorry, I'd love to have you in the side but there's a no ring-in policy, it's to keep it a bit social aswell as competitive.

We got decent crowds last time we ran it, all double-headers works well, good to see no eskies.

14 games , wow, that's what you get for being successful :D. I see what your saying, I suppose my thought process was not to increasing the amount of games existing teams have to play. Maybe a number of second divisions playing a closed competition for a local cup/trophy. How do ATCA decide the teams that play in SAMCA?

It was just the 4 semi finalists from last years ATCA T20 comp I think.
Mind you this year they expanded to 8 rather than 4.

I know pooraka/paoc were in cause they were finalists in the greenthumb comp last year. So may have been last 8 sides to make it to that comp?

What was the score at the 16-17th over mark??

Pooraka 0/61 def Gepps Cross 60.

Pooraka would have a fair T20 side, i'd think they'd come close to winning it.

A full strength ingle farm side would be very very handy.

The ATCA in the last few days has received many queries about the eligibility of players to play this weekend due to their respective sides being subject to a forfeit or abandonment last week.

Bylaw C6 states as follows

C6. PLAYING IN MORE THAN ONE TEAM

No player may play for 2 or more teams and/or clubs in the same round of A.T.C.A. fixtures without the prior permission of the permit Sub-Committee. In each match in which a player plays without such permission the opponents of the offending team shall receive the greater of the actual match and incentive points earned by it or the points which would have been awarded had it been in receipt of a forfeit from the offending team. The offending team in each case shall lose all match and incentive points earned by it in the match plus ten (10) additional points.

The definition of in the same round of ATCA fixtures is explained as follows.

Round 6 of the Two Day Competition (TDC) was scheduled to be played over the weekends of 10 and 17 December 2011. That Round also corresponded with Rounds 9 and 10 of the Limited Over Competition (LOC).

So if you take the week of 10 December in isolation you find that it involved Week 1 of the TDC and Round 9 of the LOC. That is all matches scheduled to be played over that weekend are deemed to be in the same round of ATCA fixtures. The emphasis is on the wording ATCA fixtures as opposed to getting oneself confused that it is Round 6 TDC and Round 9 of the LOC and the numbers do not correspond therefore they cannot be the same round.

So any person who played last week is restricted to playing in the same competition this week. You cannot go from the LOC to the TDC or visa versa.

I might also add that if you were in receipt of a forfeit last week you have an obligation to name your team on My Cricket to justify the receipt of said forfeit that being you were able to field a team.

You would think that after the by law decision from the ATCA a club north of the city would be having a crisis team selection meeeting about now.

Have to feel for Braham Lodge in the LOF's.

.......or they could get the prior permission of the permit Sub-Committee to play in A2. No doubt they will be hoping the rain comes in before 12.00. That ground only needs 4 drops to have the game called off.

Agree on Brahma Lodge. ATCA should take action on that game.
