For the 36ers their injury woes continue Nathan Crosswell joining Adam Ballinger on the sidelines, supposedly out for the rest of the season with a ruptured achillies in today's game against the Breakers.

In other NBL related news former Kings import Trey Gilder has been invited to NBA training camp by the Utah Jazz and former Crocs import Will Blalock has been invited to camp by the Charlotte Bobcats.

I have a suspicion Stephen Weigh's contract could make interesting reading, particularly if there are any clauses relating to "minimum court time". Left out there forever, with younger players itching on the bench.

Wouldn't be so bad if, on occasion, he could deign to defend someone.

Things keep going from bad to worse for the sixers

http://www.nbl.com.au/teams/36ers/news/ ... -injuries/

Adam Ballinger is to have surgery tomorrow on a ruptured tendon in his left ankle that occurred in the game against the Sydney Kings, last Thursday night.

This is not the same injury that he sustained on his left ankle last season.

The injury will rule him out for the rest of the iiNet NBL Championship season.

Ballinger received the news from the surgeon this morning about the extent of his injury.

“It is a rupture of the tibialis posterior tendon and the surgeon would like to operate tomorrow,”

“Until the surgeon gets in there, I don’t know how long the recovery and rehabilitation will take.”

“I am really disappointed about the injury, but I will work hard in rehab to get it right.”

Nathan Crosswell will have surgery late this afternoon to reattach his ruptured Achilles tendon.

Crosswell will also be excluded from participating for the rest of the season.

Leeanne Grantham, CEO, Adelaide 36ers says that the club will be monitoring Ballinger’s and Crosswell’s progress closely.

“Our medical team will be there every step of the way, to ensure that everything is done to help Adam and Nathan get back onto the court in the near future.”

“Adam and Nathan are an integral part of our team, they are our captain and vice captain and their presence on the court will be missed,”

“The team will pull together and support both players through their surgery and rehab.”

Information about Adam Ballinger’s and Nathan Crosswell recovery will be released as soon as information comes to hand.

I think Crosswell's absence will hurt more than Ballinger's for the rest of the season. Unfortunately Balls wasn't giving us much this season (was probably playing injured) and now the 36ers can put him on injury waivers and would have his 10 points to play with in signing a replacement and theoretically his money in the salary cap too.

As he's an aussie now they could sign a big aussie guy currently playing in Europe or if they wanted to get creative say sack Chris Warren and maybe try and entice Gary Ervin back to the NBL who's struggling in the Ukraine?

Crosswell's absence probably just means Tom Daly will be elevated to the 10 man roster.

Great comeback by the Blaze tonight, down by about 20 at the half and get up in a close win.

It seems the 36ers have signed Everard Bartlett for the rest of the season.

He played a handful of games earlier in the season for the Wildcats as an injury replacement for Damian Martin and is a former NBL Dunk Comp champion when a development player for the Breakers.

Yeah they never should've lost that game Johno.

Julian Khazzouh in his NBA pre-season debut for Golden State today played 1:24 and had 2 pts & 0 rebs 1-1 fg & 0-2 ft against ironically the Kings.
