Foxtel Cup!!!!!!

All discussions to do with the SANFL

A challenge has been issued to the State Leagues and their clubs to determine the best club outside the AFL which is something many of us have wanted to see for years. All other State leagues and clubs have accepted the challenge but not some of our local clubs? Why only us? Debatable if our clubs are arrogant, squibs, lack the vision to compete on the National stage, or genuinely believe that participaton will have a negative impact on their ability to win the SANFL premiership?
I just hope the format can be tweaked so all will want to participate in the future.

Pride is a big factor for me - I will be far more proud of South Adelaide beating Williamstown at the MCG this year than the SANFL defeating WA - for me the State League interstate clashes have lost their appeal. Yes fans remember the premiership years of their clubs but they also remember 1972 when North beat Carlton, 1976 when Norwood thrashed Carlton by 106 points, or 1986 when North beat Collingwood.

I just love the underlying and obvious agendas trotted out in this thread , while we are all entitled to our own opinions , the top three sides are 100% committed to 2012 Premiership and the rest are hopeful as struggling sides always are ! If thats arrogant ala the magpies for all those long years then Ill take that as a badge of honour and be grateful the Eagles are professional enough not to do things anymore that dont make sound fiscal and football sense like we used to . Oh and the MCG in front of 675 people at kick off will be soooooo special , maybe even the rain will enhance the occasion heh !

Comments like the above would have some credibility were they being emulated by the top sides from other competitions. But they're not. The other top teams have put their collective hands up to compete, making the constant protests of defense from SA sides sound very hollow.

But how did those sides from other states who were in the foxtel cup fare in their state leagues.

All 3 sides who declined from SA finished in the top 3 again.

The WAFL is hardly known for sound decision making and the rest are AFL puppets. Not great examples for my club to follow.

If his argument is "none of the Foxtel Cup competitors finished in 7th or 8th spot in their domestic competitions", then you're right, the results won't favour his argument.

WOW  that's a fairly grandiose, sweeping statement that any League that doesn't follow your club's stance is either incompetent or a puppet.

Care to provided any examples of this incompetence, or should we put it out there to any WA footy fans?

That's right. The assumption that because the benefits of participating in the Foxtell Cup are enough for clubs from other leagues is a poor arguement. SANFL clubs have a higher cost base and so would require additional benefits.
