FOOTBALL fans will have to wait up to an extra 80 minutes next season to learn the make-up of their AFL teams, after it was revealed the league had struck an exclusive agreement with the Seven Network.

Under the deal, which was signed by the AFL and its free-to-air broadcaster in May, Channel Seven's 6pm news bulletin will break the team selections on Thursday night in its sports bulletin. In 2011 the AFL and its clubs released the news on their respective websites about 5pm.

Well for me the extra 110 minutes means nothing, the part of it I find annoying is that they are willing to sell absolutely any tiny aspect of the AFL news week to the highest bidder to do what they want with.

Smart business in my book.
I do my tips religiously before the teams come out and win most years so it actually gives me more time to do my tips! :D

Thursday won't be the problem - Friday will be the issue when you'll have about 3mins to update your Dreamteam/Supercoach with the team changes for the Sunday games!

I thought the same thing. My only care factor with the timing of the team announcements is for my Super Coach team.

I'd assume Friday nights will stay the same as it is. It's only the finalisation of Sunday squads that changes. It's not so newsworthy. Well, lets hop so. I don't want to be stuck at my desk every Friday at 6.30pm watching damned final team sheets!
In between signatures .....

So they break it around 1815 EST, which is 1745 for us and 1615 for Perth.

Which is good, means just get the Vic posters to put the sides up here before the news start 8)

The biggest now issue is, how will Roo & Ditts waste that half an hour they usually do on a Thursday afternoon after getting the 'scoop' from an assistant coach?
