Indeed. Only cutting out and Christian in!

Ryan Harris is fit, they will go with him or Hilfy on his home deck.

Hughes is terrible, needs to play SS and learn to not hit to fielders behind the stumps.

To be fair to Warner, trying to survive till the break, copped a surprise ball tha had good bounce, he certainly could've played it better but he was a bit unlucky.

To be fair, the selectors should pick players on form / experience. How many first class 4 day games has Warner played?
Hughes is a joke.
No doubt both will keep their spots for the next test and beyond.

Cowan and Khawaja should be the two openers.
It's Somma Time!

Im reading about Warners little cameo
Not one complaint as yet
He played shots hit 3 fours and made 12 not out
WHAT IF he got out playing one of those shots ?????????????????????
For me the only batsman in our 2nd dig who looked like a TEST batsman was Khawaja

David Warner is a thrilling batsman, one of my very favorites
Hope Im very wrong and he becomes a good Test player, he is entertaining
But
I reckon he is a ODI player from what Ive seen
All this despite having a first class career average of 60 +

Warner will be a fantastic test player i believe. Warner and Khawaja opening would be like Gambhir and Segwag.
Khawaja looks like a natural opener to me.
Watto needs to drop down the order, we need his bowling

Siddle was great, he hit the 150km mark today and was our best bowler in the 1st innings.

Good to see the players after the game signing autographs and having pictures taken with the fans. Just the little on saw on the TV, Ricky Ponting had at least 30 pictures taken of himself and a fan. Total opposite to the AFL players who go out of their way to avoid such things.

it looked like Ricky thoroughly enjoyed getting out and mingling with the crowd. always found him polite - but he has given me a dud tip one day about a dog he had running that night!!!
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

Give Warner the same opportunities that Hughes has had and see what he can do. May surprise a few.

Agree Quichey, I would play him before Hughes. Warner gave alot in the field and I think at one stage had more test catches than test runs.

What south Africa isn't a genuine test playing nation, and that's in south africa?

no, South Africa are in the league of India & England, but it's premature to judge on one effort against Un Zud, at the Gabba of all places (Australia's strike rate there is outstanding)

When Pattinson took his 5th wicket in the 2nd dig
How many runs had he conceded
And how close was it to the quickest 5 wickets taken in Test cricket by an opening bowler ?
I would imagine it might be the quickest 5 wickets taken on debut ?

he was 6.3 overs 4 maidens 5/7, I am not sure if it was the fastest 5 for by an opening bowler. But I remember that Pathan got a hat trick maiden in the first over of a test a few years ago

Difficult inside edge to keeper.
