What exactly are they doing & will it impact footy next year? Anyone in the know.

Anything they do to it would have to be an improvement!!!! I think I've seen better watermelon patches!!!

there will possibility games will be played at etsa oval and chinnery oval

Any chance that games will be moved to Quorn, like south's wanted the last couple of years?

That is a possibility as well but some teams don't want to travel quorn for some reason that was the problem the first time.

Are they not trying to bring netball and footy together?

If football is moved to different ovals in Augusta, then expect Ports to do the same in Pirie. The oval is better than memorial...the oppositions changeroom might need a little work but I have not been in there in ages.

Could eliminate the Sunday games once and for all.

no doubt clubs wanna make extra $$$$ and can totally agree with it all happening but for starters to do it all would need be on level playing field i.e chinnery oval is far from up to scratch so westies would be behind the 8ball already, currently ports, lions and to a degrees centrals could all pull it off. but etsa oval is not up to scratch either, for facilities like toilets etc sollies to globe oval, hardly senior change rooms, and no food areas etc. souths obvious choice would be to take central oval.
qstns then come in who takes bar/food/gate takings? are opposition clubs allowed to set up stalls on away games? etc etc....the clubs with the larger supporter bases will obviosuly benefit because of the numbers they get to games consistantly...NOT JUST WHEN THEIR TEAMS ARE GOING WELL!!!
the league will want to make some money some how and atm they do that by gate takings and selling of alcohol.
so its not as easy as it all seems...and with none of the clubs in actual control/ownership of their own facilities (besides ports) cant see where all the $$$ will come from to get everythin up to scratch

In a perfect world all the SGL clubs would play and control the goings on at their own ovals but you're right Solo it would take a fair bit of hard work and sacrifice to get there. It would also require the teams to put aside any petty differences to achieve something for the greater good of the league - that's probably the biggest hurdle...

Perhaps a solution could be a transition period where the clubs who are able to play home games at their facility straight away, with the clubs who can't just yet having monopoly control over canteen/bar takings at Memorial and Central oval for their home games. League supplies volunteers as normal for gate takings to still have their slice of the pie. While we're at it what is everyone's thoughts on league appointed umpires being replaced by club umpires (officially anyway!) as used in almost every other league?

I dare say none of the clubs who wouldn't be based at the main ovals would have suitable opposition or umpire changerooms at the moment, but there's no motivation to do so unless the reward of home games is there so I'd expect that to change reasonably quickly. Plus when compared to some country or even metro teams' away rooms even the old wooden floored town hall at Quorn was a luxury!

Spot on FW very well said, the problem is that the clubs have let people run the league that seem to be doing 4 the wrong reasons there own self importance instead of trying to make the SGL the league it once was. They may mean well but the clubs seem to b against each other instead of taking the coulors of now and than 4 the better of the league.

cannot see why the council would wait until football season to re-develop central oval, during the summer months it is only used for soccer which can easily be switched to other venues (It is no where near as popular or as played as Aussie Rules)

McGregor could get big $ closer to town. If this is true their must be employment for him close to Port Augusta that makes the Purple and Whites attractive. Hardly a player to worry about IMO lucky to play for the crows as long as he did. I think they kept him on to try and convince others that picking him above Pavlich was a good call NOT
