I guess if anyone is doubting whether it is the right decision should look at who came 5th in your League B&F this year and ask yourself whether or not you'd expect them to play on again in season 2012. This is the case with Chris, he had a very good season, was selected in the 'State' team and had real impact on games throughout the year.

James, on the other hand, only played about 10 games because of a few niggling injuries, but when he did play in the league side, he played his part on most occassions that I can remember. I must admit that my initial thoughts where that it might be one season too many, but the influence they have on the others on and off the field can't be measured and if the two of them, Kris Grant and Roy Laird still think they can contribute, then I think it's a good chance they will.

Intersting comment from Laird :

They're old-fashioned footballers that like a contest and like to compete.

What is he saying , current day players don't ?

Of course they are there hand and foot skills are still classy u just don't want to see young guys leaving because they can't get a crack at league level, which can happen with the ridiculous amounts of money offered in country leagues

Based on their form late in the last season, yes. Recruits and age will catch them at some point though.

Pretty easily I'd suggest. Might be a different story in 9 months time of course, but Chris finished top 5 in the B&F from memory and James was very good when he was fit.

It will be one season too many for the other 8 clubs  How could a Dogs fan actually write this about 2 club legends. Their game style will not deteriate between September and March and believe me when they are gone Centrals wont be the same. SANFL legends, every team would have them in their starting 18...You called them greats and thats the thing about "Greats" at worst they are still very good 8)
The PNU Falcs 2005,06,13 x 2,14 and Div 1 Premiers in 2019......The SA 3peat - 2003,04,05

=D> =D> Well said. They ARE greats of the central district football club, but also the SANFL.
The things they do on the field is just amazing, but what they do off it is just as remarkable.
The day they DO retire will leave a big hole in the entire competition.
