Chasing anything over 250 will be very hard.
Chasing anything over 50 will be hard for this mob.
Too many batsmen not in form

Pup = spud skipper but GUN player. Would love to hear his explanation for that one. OK if his strike bowlers are in need of a spell, WHO CARES, Im sure big Siddle would love one or two overs at a new lid. To start with Hussey....**** me sideways.

Pat Malone wrote:I think Pup is a very good captain, we have been crying out for a bit of creativity in an era when part timers are seldom used. People whinge when Punter rotated the 4 or 5 bowlers, Pup is a bowler down here so his hands are tied somewhat and people still complain.
Johnson is supposed to lead the attack, mid 130's without accuracy hardly cries impact bowler to me. No complaints with the shortened run up, obviously been working on something different with McDermott and good on him for trying, but there is no improvement in control at the expense of pace.
His figures this series, 49 overs, 2 for 231 (average of 115, strike rate of 147). He took 6 for 313 in Sri Lanka at an average of 52, strike rate of 99.

Gee Cummins for an 18 year old, this kid could be anything, I thought Lyon bowled quite well, wasnt afraid to keep tossing em up there, a couple of johnsons spells were very good, off the shorter run I thought he had some shape going that reminded me of his spell in Perth during the ashes, with Watson though they all tired, I think the lights a good result for today's play.

Amla 89* You cannot bounce this man out, lord knows Cummo and Johnson tried. Need a new tactic tomorrow or he'll bat another whole day.
De Villiers 70* This guy scores runs, although I don't think he is anything special. He will accumulate more if he doesn't get out early tomorrow.
MG Johnson- The best 0-77 I have seen. He is bowling balls that trouble the batsmen, he is keeping reasonable pace, he just didn't get the wickets.
CUMMO- 2/46 were the stats, he surprised me, as I thought he would fail. He kept his early-to-mid 140k pace, bowled in good areas, however he absolutely wasted the bouncer, the only guy he bothered was Kallis. He could end up with a five-fer tomorrow.
PM Siddle- Tried hard, bustled in, bowled six maidens and was the most economical of the regular bowlers. On the same day he could have had three or four wickets.
Nathan Lyon- Bowled alright for his inexperience, and considering Amla is such a good player of spin. 1/41 and the wicket of Smith. Not setting the world on fire, but doing his reputation no harm at all.
Hussey, Clarke and Ponting... Overs that would have been better invested in Lyon or Cummins.
