FORMER treasurer Kevin Foley had a heated argument in a North Adelaide pub early yesterday.

Mr Foley and his two sons, Ben and Ryan, attended the annual TV "funny reels" night of out-takes and bloopers at the Kentish Arms Hotel on Friday night, along with other MPs, media employees and political press secretaries.

When that finished, a large group continued on to the nearby The Lion Hotel, where Mr Foley was talking with his sons. He became annoyed at what he thought were deliberate efforts to make the back of his shirt wet with lemon peel.

He remonstrated with a TV worker and a heated row ensued.

Channel 10 journalist Brett Clappis intervened and the situation calmed, with Mr Foley and his sons leaving.

"It was heated - Foley was saying his shirt was wet and he didn't deserve to be treated like that, and the TV guy was giving it back to him," a witness said.

Should also have the right, like most of us, to be able to go out in relative peace and quiet, whatever any potential "heroes" out there on the town may have as their political allegiances etc.

Spot on, but without really knowing any of the facts, perhaps he needs to just walk away from situations as well ...

exactly, how many times will he allow himself to become involved in an incident, at a pub, before he acknowledges that maybe there is a common theme?

After seeing the video of when Foley was king-hit, without any warning at all, I tend to think CK's point is reasonable.

i believe we all have that right, to go out when we want and do what we want (so long as it does not adversly effect others), however, as i have said before, it is not always the smart thing to do. and unfortunately when it comes to going out on the town and getting pissed, Mr Foley continues to ignore the smart thing.

and before you suggest it again R&B, i am not, nor have i ever been associated with any "liberal" organisation or group. i am not saying the above statement as a political thing, but as a common sense thing. surely even you must admit that as it keeps happening Mr Foley should at least consider modifying his behaviour? maybe even just a little tiny bit?

Yes, I do, mate. I also agree with CK's point that it's a pity he has to.

not disputing that at all, i guess i am just a bit of a pessimist. the reality is he cant, it was part of the package when he became arguably one of the two most prominent polititians in this state. just like a "movie star" cant just head on down to the ramsgate for a few drinks, neither can he. unfortunate, but that is the way it is.

Seems Kevin Foley is the only person in the world who doesn't recoginse who Kevin Foley is.

Maybe its how Kevin Foley conducts himself to others that might be the problem.

To be honest I could not give a "rats" what he does now.

I have seen on many occasions a 50+ year old out at nightclubs etc in the early hours behaving like a complete wanker. He was often wearing a skin tight T shirt and a pair of jeans you would expect an 18yo to wear. He has a habit of being a loud mouth smart arse and sleazing onto much younger women very openly.

Is this the sort of behavior you would expect from a 50yo not to go unnoticed by other males, I don't think so.

Can anyone guess his name?

WITH the rumour mill in overdrive surrounding Channel Nine, last week's TV Funny Reels is the gift that keeps on giving for industry gossips.

The altercation between Kevin Foley and a lemon-throwing journalist has been reported during the week.

And the Nine reporter who "managed to pash" K-Fol on the night, according to The Australian, has been sent into a spin, denying the incident despite it being confirmed by several reliable witnesses.

The girl in question, who has been the name on everyone's lips this week, started the evening proudly showing off photos of her new model beau to friends, who were later shocked as she apparently locked lips with the former Treasurer.

Kevin himself was very matter of fact about the incident saying: "It's a private matter. I'm a single bloke. What I do or don't do is of no public interest."

Meanwhile, my informants tell me that K-Fol's "wingman" on the night, Jamie Durie (since when were they BFFs?) also found himself in a bit of a set-to when they ended up at Zhivago - the trendy street-art embellished nightspot that seems to have become a new fav for Kevin - in the wee hours.

It's said that an "altercation" broke out between the celebrity gardener and yet another Channel Nine reporter, after former stripper and still buff Jamie allegedly boasted something to the effect of "don't bother talking to those girls, they're clearly here for me".

Hmm ... I'm starting to see what Jamie and Kevin have in common!

DEPUTY Opposition Leader Mitch Williams has played down speculation about his position despite internal party disquiet about questioning in Parliament to Transport Services Minister Chloe Fox over sex charges levelled at her father.

In Question Time yesterday, Mr Williams asked Ms Fox if she had absented herself from Cabinet discussions over changes to suppression laws applying to people on sex charges.

AdelaideNow has learnt several Liberals approached Ms Fox to apologise yesterday after the question.

One Liberal source said the tactic had seriously damaged Mr Williams and they would be “surprised and gobsmacked” if he were able to last as deputy leader until the next election.
