Sometimes moving you feet to the ball is required/best way to play the ball! havent seen the dismissal though, would hope he wasnt looking to belt it over the top  but happy he toiled away and faced 70 balls in tough a situation.

Agreed FS, I think using your feet is under valued. It can take close in fieldsman away from the contest. I had a coach at Ingle Farm who said "why would you give up the chance of losing your wicket when you can use your feet in the crease". Those close in fieldsman work on angles, and if you change the angle by leaving your crease it makes it infinitely more difficult to snaffle a catch close in.

I think being agressive can alter the attitudes of the fielding captain. Given, there are circumstances when you should and shouldn't leave your crease, however on the whole, I think (unless it's cavalier) it's a positive overall.

Too many teams with very thin depth...
We will continue to recycle middle of the road talent from interstate.
Our good kids will continue to get a false sense of achievement making scores or taking wickets in a substandard district comp which unfortunately gets them found out at the next level..

Get rid of D grade cricket? Have more imput from feeder Surbuban clubs regarding Juniors? If you dont have Juniors then your not a club? What do u suggest?

We are never going to be able to cut the ammount of clubs at district level so i think as a matter of urgency we need a two tier district comp starting next year. Sides in top half at end of this season are in Div 1 and bottom half are Div 2. Have promotion and relegation. The good cricketers in the Div 2 sides will most probably move to Div 1 sides but that will strengthen the comp, plus the decent sides get to play against other decent sides more often. You only have to look at the differance its made in county cricket

But how much time will Div 2 last tho. I fear for that! What about when players come from interstate, or come with raps on them, the teams at the bottom get these players.Similar to Afl draft .Will that make any difference?[/quote]

Who cares how long Div 2 lasts for as long as we get the result of a strong div1.

Probably the clubs who have years and years of history who would probably go under if it happens! Im not saying its not a good idea, but the strong clubs would forever be strong. Its an interesting concept which i reckon alot of clubs would not support!

The county clubs have embraced and they have as much history as our clubs. Its up to the clubs to work their butt off to get back into Div 1. Its either that or we cut clubs from our comp completely. Id rather survive as a club and spend a few years in a lower div than cease to exist
