I know how I'd feel if that was one of my grandparents in that fire :?

Certainly, the media can go over the top with the way some stories are approached, and the coverage can be excessive at times, but what has happened there is terrible and....don't really know what else to say there, really.

Maybe there was no fire. Maybe it was Alf Stewart doing the reporting about flaming old people?

I mean I can see FC's point about the coverage - but I do find it extremely sad.

The thought that even though some may be 'bed ridden' - but can you imagine if they had their 'marbles' knew what was happening but couldn't escape.
Horrific.

Imagine being immobile and seeing flames and smoke around you and knowing you are going to die a painful and horrible death.

OR

Imagine being 80+ and battling already, and now having to face up to burns recovery. What a prick of an ordeal to have to go through.

Pretty awful stuff.

I agree.

However, is it worth 2 hours of live coverage on the telly?

No I agree with you on that as well. Same can be said for the Qantas drama, Obamarama, and the list goes on. They just report the same shit over and over and over and over.

I have discovered something that fixes it though. It's called an 'off' button and it works brilliantly! ;)

I still forget it's an option sometimes though. I'll sit there for half an hour bitching about what's on TV before I realise that I can actually turn it off and find something else to do.

Slightly disagree on QANTAS, only because it affected thousands and thousands of Australians - whilst unneccesary I guess it was RELEVANT.

Unless that nursing home contained our last 8 Prime ministers (or Obama  ) it's just not relevant to the whole of Australia and didn't warrant clogging up my telly screen this morning. Maybe to Sydney siders but thats about it.

What shits me most is that I had to watch bloody Sunrise and put up with Kochy for an hour :?

It f**king killed and took a decent amount of skin off. It's fine now though, it's healed very well.

What also sh!ts me is that it happened about 2:50, we finish at 3:30 so by the time I rushed into the toliet to splash water on the burn, go out to find our leading hand and then supervisor to explain that I have suffered an injury, go down to our onsite medical to get it treated (which happens to close at 3:10), go back to see our supervisor so he could take me to the Gilman medical centre to be treated then go back to work, I finally got home at 5:15. It caused so much f**cking around, I usually get home at 3:45. Got paid overtime though. :)

As for the guy who threw it, he didn't show up to work today. He will be delt with by all the bosses but I don't want to see him get the sack or anything, he is a good mate who I've known since Primary school and we've always been battling it out against each other for kicks, both got detention in Science in year 10 for wrestling and fighting in the classroom while the teacher left the room.

Sacked. He's actually broken the law in doing that section 21 (1a) of the OHS&W Act where he has endangered a fellow employees safety. In Victoria he could be up for a $200 000 fine, here its is only a Division 6 fine ~ $20 000 IIRC. If I was his boss I'd sack him beacuse his actions have put the company at risk of breaking the law too.
