Sometimes moving you feet to the ball is required/best way to play the ball! havent seen the dismissal though, would hope he wasnt looking to belt it over the top  but happy he toiled away and faced 70 balls in tough a situation.

Valid point FS, the comment on cricket info said he played "over the ball", sounds to me like he was looking to go over the top?

If that is the case then that is **** cricket...

I used to look forward to start of shield season but after a few games into the season SA would always struggle and be down at the bottom, thought by really sacrificing a year or two by giving younger players a decent chance to perform, hopefully we could get our act together and be competitive, but honestly we are continue to be the laughing stock when it comes to shield cricket.Really hope Darren Berry can turn things around.

Banging an old drum but nothing is ever going to change until the quality of Grade cricket here is fixed..
Too many teams with very thin depth...
We will continue to recycle middle of the road talent from interstate.
Our good kids will continue to get a false sense of achievement making scores or taking wickets in a substandard district comp which unfortunately gets them found out at the next level..

Another 6 point game in Tasmania
And none in South Australia this season
TA will have a big chance to play in a SS Final
SA will have little chance to play in a SS final

Disappointing to see though. I was hoping for a ferguson special.

His form is a worry. He averaged less then 40 at number 4/5 throughout his career. batting him at number 3 does not make sense to me.

IMO James Smith should get a gig. Open him or bat him at 3, let the ferg slide to number 5.

Ferg at number 3 in ODD cricket is a great move IMO though

The problem SACA is they doing nothing in the country. A lot of country association do not have turf which is causing poor development and Port Augusta just got a turf wicket up and going this year with little help from SACA. When SACA fixs the base then the rest will come as well, you can fix something up the top when something is broken down at the bottom. Question how many players from country areas playing grade cricket compared to victoria or nsw.

We are never going to be able to cut the ammount of clubs at district level so i think as a matter of urgency we need a two tier district comp starting next year. Sides in top half at end of this season are in Div 1 and bottom half are Div 2. Have promotion and relegation. The good cricketers in the Div 2 sides will most probably move to Div 1 sides but that will strengthen the comp, plus the decent sides get to play against other decent sides more often. You only have to look at the differance its made in county cricket

You are obviously happy with our growing spoon collection. SA cricket has been stuffed for years but it doesnt mean we have to accept it. I will be positive when the sides performance warrants it. What amazes me is how precious Redback supporters are. The Crows and Port have copped crap all year about how crap they are but they cop it on the chin and try to improve. As soon as anyone bags the useless Redbacks people jump down your throat and tell you not to knock them. I wish the media was as hard on them as they are the 2 football sides.

But how much time will Div 2 last tho. I fear for that! What about when players come from interstate, or come with raps on them, the teams at the bottom get these players.Similar to Afl draft .Will that make any difference?
