Australia v South Africa (2nd Test)

Postby the joker » Thu Nov 17, 2011 11:37 pm

People on here are in to Nathan Lyon already, he only bowled a couple of overs in the first test, and it's the first day here, I don't know of you know anything about cricket, but spinners don't do much damage on the first day if tests.

Yeah I know plenty about the game thanks. And I stand by my opinion on Lyon. Like I said I hope he proves me wrong but personally I'm not expecting to Lyon to rip through the Saffers on a flat deck with a lightning outfield, I'm looking for a bowler who might have the tools to succeed at test level and I have to say at the moment that Lyon doesn't appear to be that bowler.

He's not holding his own on conditions that don't suit and a test bowler should be able to hold his own more often than not, regardless of the conditions. He got a bag on debut on a bunsen burner and hasn't done anything since.

They are losing wickets fast but lets be honest, they probably have enough runs for a first innings lead already.

Lyon has two

So much for them making 450 on a road. Good fightback by the Aussies. Great to see Siddle rewarded for his hard work. We just need to get off to a good start with the bat now

Second Test, RSA all out 266 (71 overs)
de Villiers 64 hasn't missed a beat since returning
Kallis 54 bloody good to see the back of him, batting at more than double his usual strike rate
Prince 50 the forgotten man
PM Siddle 3/69 copped a bit of stick from Kallis, but they were going to drop this fella?
NM Lyon 2/52 after his first over, you can't help but be happy with his output on a day one pitch
MJ Clarke 2/6 Now that he's captain he can work on that bowling average again.
Johnson 1/67 Only one wicket, but grew a set today and looked the part of the attack leader.

PATTY CAKE CUMMINS... 1/38 (15)... Against the best batting line up in the world, he may only have one wicket next to his name, but his efforts were sound... I will personally have him removed from the one-Test wonders when we play again, as he will get another immediate chance...

Day two...

We'll see...

Shane Watsons injury was untimely
1 more wicket and he would have equaled the amount of runs and wickets he has in this Test series

Will Watto open?
Has a hammy injury and is not allowed to have a runner.
Wouldnt be suprised if he bats down the order and Hussey opens with Hughes

Lyon had a couple of expensive overs but I thought be bowled ok. Took 2 wickets on the first day of a test match on a deck that favoured seamers.
