Kikuyu can be used, need to mow it more often to keep it low though. There are also chemicals on the market that you can use to control the kikuyu in Santa anna aswell, and doesn't hurt the couch grass :D

Dear as poison though mickey ;)
Onsong tell the missus couch is better. The kike will smother your couch quick smart.
Played a game against Payneham a couple of weeks ago in the LOD"s on rolled kikuyu. Glad there was no one quick because it was deadly. The ball was doing all sorts.

All depends on whose paying for it

We spray all our wickets at work, except for Duncan Fraser #2.. for some reason gepps cross love their kikuyu pitch.

2. Hit any shrub or tree on the full is out.

3. Hit the netting it's 4. 6 on the full.

4. 2 milk crates can be placed anywhere in the yard and if the ball hits them, your out.

5. Any nick behind is out.

6. Hit the retaining wall on the full is out. If it bounces it's 1 run.

9. Every hit is 1 run.

10. Every hit is 2 if it doesn't go off the grass.

11. If you can find a black milk crate, you could make it 3 runs if you can hit it on the full.

Was that Brad Haddin at the crease? Poor shot choice for the backyard. ;)

Me and a bunch of my mates play a test match every Boxing Day.
We head to the local school oval (small boundaries!) and get drunk while having a hit.
One year we even had music when batsmen came onto the field T20 style.

Looks good but the vid is a bit sketchy. Not much more than you can expect really. Classic work though.
I'm guessing you get quite good at working balls into the on-side?

I was thinking you could centralise the pitch and open up the offside a little, just got to be careful of that window, work one off the hip straight into it.
