I think I was a bit generous. Didn't think there'd be many winners when I looked at them Friday.

Next week sees the local derby against the young and explosive Parkers who would have to be favourites after their start to the season.

Settle down mate were both 3-0 we are playing well but apart from Riverside the opposition hasnt been great, and to be honest having faced some pretty ordinary attacks in the last couple of weeks isnt the ideal preparation to go into against Craigmore and a storming Al.

Either way will be a cracker game but both sides will realise premierships arent won in November.

I agree SF that Eastern Pk should start favourites considering their premiership last season and their strong start this season with a few handy inclusions boosting their stocks. On the flip side we lost a few A Graders from last season but the yougsters are standing up and the old fellas just keep giving. We are looking forward to the challenge and perhaps the psychological advantage gained from a win will almost be as important as the points at the end of the day. :?:

I was going to chuck it in a multi on Friday but didn't want to put the mockers on us or appear cocky.
We were quietly confident during the week but knew the importance of lasting the day out considering we got bundled out for 40 odd there last season.

I don't think I need to add too much about the game on Saturday other than I was really proud of the effort all the lads put in - realistically though, we should never have put ourselves in that position, we know that though.
Well, i'm back off to work to pay off all this bloody money I spent at the auction on Saturday night - I'm feeling a self imposed booze ban coming on

I don't think it was that bad for you, by the time you work out syndicates etc. it ends up being a fair bit less.
It gets a bit dangerous having it after a good win and with all 3 sides winning, two seasons ago we got washed out on auction day, we all went across to the pub for the afternoon, it ended up being a big night for the bidders.

Phantom's Phantom McKenzie
Rose & Crown V Virginia
3 - L. Kent: Again proves the match winner, 3/30 off 9 overs in the 1st innings paved the way for the Bedgegood onslaught, then backed it up in the 2nd innings when his team needed him most, taking 6/49 which included an amazing Hat-Trick. Back to back 5 wicket hauls, and backs up my claims he is bowling the best he ever has.
2 - M. Bedgegood: Tough call but pips Daniel Jenner for the 2 points. 1st 5 wicket haul in grade 1 which included 3x caught & bowled, finished off the Virginia innings in a hurry and set up Rosies nicely.
1 - D. Jenner: Return to form with a masterfull 74 with the bat, gave no chances and guided R&C past the total required. Also picked up 2 wickets and his bowling in partnerships was 2nd to none.

One Tree Hill V Angle Vale
3 - A. Carmen: Once again a Carmen polls the maximum - this time brother Andy is the star. 74 with the bat and 5/8 destroyed the gallant OTH outfit that looked a big chance of an upset.
2 - J. Hanisch: Did his best and gave his side every chance for victory with scores of 23 & 48 to compliment his bowling of 3/19 which came in a hurry.
1 - J. Carmen: After carefull thought, have decided the tall workhorse gets the 1 with 4 wickets in each innings. Helps that he bowls marathon spells, but on the flip side of that shows amazing fitness to bowl such lengthy spells and still be so consistant.

Parafield Gardens V Smithfield
3 - J. Morris: Commanding 120 runs, took control of the match coming in with the score at 89 and with the help of his team mate, especially Raed, guided the side past the imposing score of 359. Innings included 22x 4's and 1x 6.
2 - R. Hannun: 118 of the best from the classy yet unorthordox run machine. 15x 4's and 7x maximums, with Morris took Smithfield from little chance to the amazing result that eventuated.
1 - P. Mascai: 170 runs, and one of the few Parafield Gardens players to offer resistance. Without his dig, PG would've been on the receiving end of a flogging. Cruel game cricket, had his side conquered he would've surely racked up the 3 votes, unfortunately settles for the single.

Salisbury West V Central United
3 - W. Sewell: Big Willie enjoying his time in the top order by the looks, and without the pressure of bowling seems to be able to able to continue to score runs. Scores of 36 & 57* in a low scoring game is a fantastic effort.
2 - B. Woodward: 46 runs with the bat to give his side a real chance and a tight 1/16 off 11 overs, there is little more he could've done to help his team out.
1 - J. Davies: Epic effort with the ball with 4/30 off 19 overs which included the wicket of the dangerous Woodward.

This will be an interesting game. The two rivals looking pretty strong so far and both with some talented young kids. I think the winner will be decided by which team's kids perform. That's the beauty of young teams, one week they can play the house down and the next they go back to the 'development' phase. Might actually make the effort to come watch some of this...
