Heard it could be some fella with a surname Hughes (not Gary).

Depends who leaves, Lofty had no trouble with points last year. Who are the players leaving?

Armytank wrote:Okay guys, I heard a "genuine" rumour the other day regarding Torrens Valley. It went something along the lines of TV looking to go back to Country Division OR they are being forced to go back to Country Division.
It may have something to do with the League's rule that all clubs in Central Division must field all five teams every Saturday.
I am happy for this to be quickly shot down by anyone who can give us info on TV and their juniors stocks.
That being said, I know they are not alone if they are struggling to field all of their junior teams, there are some BIG and successful clubs that also struggle some years to fill the full compliment in each of the different age groups. That could read Mt Barker or Uraidla or Hahndorf instead on Torrens Valley next year or in the years to come.
I believe this really is an issue that the league needs to address. Instead of the Owen bashing, whether he is there or not for the next 2 years it is time for the HFL board to grow some balls and take control of the direction of our competition. If Owen is there next year, the board needs to stand up to his wishy washy, non-committal "leadership". If there is someone new, it is an opportunity for the new president to steer the league back to were it should be.
We have a great league, Central is a great competition and half of Country is a pretty good comp too. We have great clubs with great people and great, well respected rivalries throughout the League. The health of our junior competition is pivital to the direction our league will take in the future. With a strong junior comp, the need for highly paid imports to stock up our clubs throughout the league will be reduced, and the rediculous amounts of money being paid to some players will also be lowered.

Exactly why I said they need to "grow some balls". This is definately not a simple problem and some careful planning, direction and some DECISION making is needed, instead of just letting the league carry along on its merry way to the point it is at now.
I am definately not suggesting that the rule be dropped, it is an important part of Central footy from my point of view.
If Ironbank, Torrens Valley of Bridgewater fail to field an under 12s or under 14s side, they will be sent to Country with no questions asked. But what if that is Urailda or Hahndorf?

Fair enough I do agree the HFL might be more likely to dump the clubs you've mentioned, although the problem won't go away, so you're right the league does need to get on top of this.
I think the whole competition (senior and junior) needs a complete review, maybe from an outside, independent perspective.

I've heard Ben Gordon and Jared McDonald are looking or have found new homes. Anyone know where?

Making a seemingly simple decision about the comp is where the ball-growing needs to take place.

Incorrect mate, Ben gets a few offers every year, none of which have been acted on... Is a great forward so will always attract attention... and Jared was thinking of not playing next year due to concentrating on his cycling. If he does play most likely a local club near him and plays when he is not racing/training...

Torrens Valley offered a Div 1 SAAFL player $1K per game to jump ship. He is already signed to his amateur club for 2012 and now is being offered by some country clubs the big buck$.
I'm told the answer was' he stays where he is or stands out of footy for 12 months'. Now that is what more clubs should say/do when mercenaries shop themselves around and clubs such as Torrens Valley, who are stuffing up the footy world, offer ridiculous amounts to poach players.

If we're talking about the same person he would be sitting at 9/10 games suspension in SAAFL so all it could take is a red card of some description in rd 1 to be de-registered and off to TV anyway?
