Anyone who enjoys anything from Athiest to Zatyriasis (who knows who they are, but they start with Z), put your thoughts discussions here...

I'll start the ball rolling with Cannibal Corpse & their cover of The Possessed's "The Excorcist"- it's one of my all time favs, despite being a tack-on cover to the Hammer Smashed Face single.

COSMIC PSYCHOS:'Satan's Undies' the last track on their 1997 album 'Oh What a Lovely Pie'...
"Hello, I'm a Naughty Boy!" (Classic)

Then there's the Sesame Street Cookie Monster song 'C is for Cookie (That's good enough for me!)'

In all seriousness the greatest DEATH bands were the originals...
Possessed
Death
Morbid Angel
Entombed
Cannibal Corpse
Benediction
Dismember

& then you've got all the sub-genres
with the likes of that killa trio of Austrian sickos
Pungent Stench :supz:

there seems to be some confusion here... :?

for clarification- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Metal

I believe the thread is called "Death Metal", not "Aussie Bands" :)

Musical classifications shit me, but I dont mind some Cradle of Filth. Her Ghost in the Fog and Babalon AD are great songs. Lyrically, they are very good too.

now we're talking! :D
Cradle have a varied approach to metal- starting with Principles Of Evil Made Flesh, which is as close to black metal as they get, through the very good "Vempire", through to the excellent "Cruelty & the Beast". I reckon out of the more recent efforts (with a changed musical direction) "Nymphetamine" is the better of the lot. Midian had some good songs on it, but that came out after the very average Bitter Suites To Succubi.
I must admit that Cradle are either starting to churn out albums without breaking too much new ground, or I'm drifting away from them a bit- I will say that buying Thornography & Suffocation on the same day, Suffocation has recieved all the airplay, so all is not lost yet.

Mayhem were a part of the Norwegian Black Metal scene- a scene more akin to politics, rather than music. Burning of churches & murder was/is common place.
Count Grishnacht (Varg Vikernes- Bassist) is doing time for murdering Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth- over internal politics.
I think the guy (in the photo)- his name was Dead, not Death.

Nb. Varg Vikernes still is involved with Burzum, although hsa stated he will not record new material until he's released.
