Boon I would have thought the crows should be looking at playing finals, look at there list, they really should be around the 8. Although should be and actually doing something are always very different. But come on mate, if there supporters are a little optimistic then so be it, life is short and sometimes shit, so really what does it matter.

Be optimistic but be realistic too.

As for accpeting mediocrity, I dont know what this has to do with this debate.

Okay. I'll be optimistic & realistic.

Adelaide will be definitely be back in finals by 2013. I believe that it may even happen next year. The worst run without a finals appearance is 3 years (94-96). That record will not be broken anytime soon.

Right, there we go. When I was talking about Davis and the two SA clubs re "no finals in the short term" I meant next year or perhaps the year after which will be the only years Davis ( IMO ) will be of any value whatsoever.

Being realisitc, which we at least are, tells us that neither side is likely to play finals in 2012 ( Adelaide an outside possibility with the draw ) and Port no chance.

2013 should see Adelaide a top 8 contender and Port at least ( fingers crossed ) out of the bottom 4.

Two-time AA isn't mediocre.

grand finals that leon davis has played in

2002 0 kicks 0 handballs 0 disposals
2003 6 kicks 4 handballs 10 disposals
2010 4 kicks 2 handballs 6 disposals
2011 12 kicks 8 handballs 20 disposals

averages 5.5 kicks
3.5 handballs
9 disposals per grand final

he is a mediocre player in a good team! when his team really needs him to stand up on the big stage he didnt have an impact.
im sure leon would rather have a premiership medallion than 2 all australian selections.

Of course he'd rather have premiership medallions, but over the entirety of his career it would be unfair to label him mediocre despite having poor showings in a couple of grand finals.

I reckon he's had two good years and the rest not so good, therefore, mediocre.

I'm having a bit of a giggle at the Crows and Power supporters who seem to be falling over themselves to get Davis.
I hope they're not the same ones who used to bag him.
I suppose, for the Crows, it'd be good to have Davis on the half back line again ;)

He isn't that special, would get a game at either SA club, because they just aren't that good.

Freo could use him, but I don't think they want him.

He would not make the Eagles team.

You must be joking.

I'm fairly sure an All-Australian defender would slot into a side that finished below the side he played in this year, unless the West Coast filled the other five defensive spots in the AA team?

Exactly.

No he would, I think he'd fit into their forward line or backline quite nicely.

Dont be seduced into buying AA selection as the be all and end all of player quality. If the AA panel had the finals to consider who made or did not make the team Davis would have been lucky to survive. He was flying up to Round 15 but, like Collingwood, had a mini-form slump for the last 8 weeks or so.

Averaged 25 disposals a game after round 15. I completely disagree with a "form slump" rating on that finish to the year.
Maintained that average during the finals series.

Good numbers you offer up, 25 touches a game ( average ) but that shows nothing of how he used them, where he got them, what impact they had.

I stand by my comments.

I think you're being a tad harsh on him? Why the hate for Davis?

Admittedly went at about 60 per cent disposal efficiency in the GF but usually he's up in the 70s, which is why he played the role he did this year.

One of the best field kicks in the team.
