Siddle is my boy, he bursts in all day, just as fast in the first over of the day as the last, and can take a bag at Test level.

Ryan Harris is a dominant Test match bowler, simple as that. The only hard part is getting the prick fit enough for a full series.

With you there, massive Siddle fan. Would still be my first picked bowler.

He will be the week link in the Aussie test side, the Saffers will tear him apart over there

Day one pitch with some aggressive Saffer lower order players, McLaren, Peterson and Philander all throwing the bat around, I'd be more interested to see what he can do on a day three or four wicket, which I guess we'll see in a couple of days.

Harris is a lock for the Test team, MJ is as well, they are two wicket taking quicks. They are no there to muddle around tying ends up, so if they do their bit, then Lyon should be coming on with RSA five wickets down... In a Test I daresay the lower order players will be trying to hang around rather than throw the bat...

Could have easily been three or four wickets to Lyon for stuff all, but the shots came off!

But you're right, if RSA are 0/200 and Lyon is bowling, then it will be Bryce McGain like...

The Saffers are generally positive players of spin and have been known to treat them with contempt. Not many spin bowlers have a great record in South Africa. Hopefully the quicks do their job otherwise they will go after Lyon

I'd go with Siddle, Harris, Johnson, and Cumming and have Watto bowl a bit as usual. Personally I dont think we need a spinner in the team for the 1st test.

Aussie have lost some quick wickets. 8 down and still trail by about 10 runs. MJ out for a goldie

Marchant DeLange has five wickets...
Only 21 years old and a Saffer... Could be England's next opening bowler...

If Mitch Johnson is not the most overrated "all rounder" I have seen I will eat my hat. The amount of ducks he gets is ridiculous for an "all rounder".

Nathan Lyon needs to move up the order.

Um...that's because he's not an allrounder.

Test Career

1186 RUNS
20-86 AVE

187 WICKETS
AVE 30.43

Respectable numbers for a norMALly number 8 batsman and frontline bowler
Add to this the amount of hard yakka bowling he is asked to do
The ironman of the Australian attack butters up series after series in most forms of cricket
Some of his bowling team-mates simply cannot do this without breaking down

IF you have not guessed who this bowler is :
He celebrated his birthday yesterday

Respectable is about the sum of it, he was looking like reaching allrounder status a couple of years ago but it soon fell apart. I like him and what he can bring to the bbq, just getting sick of him bringing his cheap-arse rissoles too often.

Mitch "Rissoles" Johnson  I like it...
IMO MJs career is harshly scrutinized because of that one magnificaent year. He played well above his ability, hit a couple of breathtaking centuries and created an air of expectation that was always gonna be a real challenge to duplicate. He is capable of bowling a spell of utter tripe but he does bowl express, hits the bat hard and on his day is one of our few genuine match winners. Unless his form drops right off he would always be in my team.

Not for me.

Trys hard and gives his all but still not highly rated from my point of view.
