I got about 8 players out of doing that so I was really happy with the results, but none of them were/are sporty kids.
Anyway, reading through summer sport results in the local paper I seen about 5 of those non sporty kids' names for either tennis or basketball and most of them are playing for Long Plains when they live in Balaklava and could more easily play for Balak with less travel.
They must have had a fun time playing footy and made mates along the way and now enjoy sport in general which is a great thing for kids of all skill levels.
I really rate that!

Excellent work MC, you had a great bunch of kids there, I see a few of them playing cricket for Dublin aswell.
You did a top job.

I agree top work MC!

Cheers mate. Just checked out the mycricket website and saw that. I recognise about 7 of those lads there which is great. Gonna keep an eye on all the local junior sport scores from now on, then ring up the kids that I don't recognise after Christmas sometime and try and do some more recruiting for next year that way! :D

You coming back out our way to umpire again next year?

Their 14's are playing ours atm, the coach said they were a good bunch.

Yeah mate, more than likely, can't say I loved it but had more enjoyable days than shit ones.

I was really impressed with the league, set up and most of the clubs hospitality etc.

I'm not sure, I might pop down there early Saturday, he used to be a handy cricketer as a young lad.
I did really enjoy umpiring some days, there's just certain teams that you can't seem to make a correct call for, not just in the APFL though, it's great watching lads like Coombsey, Brandon Taylor, Dylan Collings and many more, not only can they play but they are good lads to talk to on the field.
A few of the B graders around the traps are top blokes aswell.

Why not, depends on when and where though. Always happy to help if there is a chance to cross promote with my footy club. :)

Thinks it's humorous that a certain poster might have thrown his moderator badge in a little prematurely...
If you get that crapped off with people disagreeing with you, you could have deleted those posts, instead of getting yourself into a pathetic name calling match...

It's a thankless job being a Mod and one expects nor seeks anything different, however, the assertion that we would delete someone's posts in a discussion because of a disagreement in point of view is just plain wrong [-x

I don't mind chatting back either, I copped a "you're **** shit" earlier in the year.
I replied with "And your two kicks went straight to the opposition", it was late in the 3rd, the bloke had a bit of a laugh and told me I wasn't far from the truth.
You don't mind the odd comment or appeal for a free, constant whinging over every decision that doesn't go their way gets up the goat a bit.
